Dignam and Goff - Martin

Good read this.

Thatā€™s a great song. I raise you this one. I got properly into Aslan around 1998 after buying a Christy Dignam singles collection including his Dignam and Goff stuff. Aslan had an album out around that time too. I even got Damien Corlessā€™s book about the band. Around about the summer of 1998 I was listening to them heavily. Ridiculously I never saw Christy sing properly live until last year, half time at Croke Park didnā€™t really count. He was a proper artist which you can see so clearly the more stripped down a song is, and he was probably held back by some of the other lads, but they were his mates.

A likeable auld skin - R.I.P.

RIP to the man.

The grief junkies are going to feast on this one.

RIP Christy. Have good memories of going to see Aslan in the Quays 20 years ago.

I remember buying the cassette of Feel No Shame when it came out. Iā€™d the 12 inch version of Loving me lately and Pretty Thing. Down on Me was my favourite song on the cassette. This Is had been out for a while so it wasnā€™t ā€œnewā€.

Iā€™ve mentioned sending my aul lad in to get an Aslan record signed sans Christy

I neve saw Aslan live. I did see see Christy at about 2pm on Saturday in Feile 1991. It was warm and sunny and there were a handful of people there. And he came on like he was playing Wembley and he was brilliant and I remember I was chuffed he was so good and charismatic.

Iā€™ll give Feel No Shame a whirl tonight.

please dont stop was a banger. RIP Christie

im off to wind up my sister in law: she fell in love with a lad who introduced her to aslan back in the mid 2000s. she fell head over heels for him and aslan and any opportunity theyd go and see them live. then he dumped her from absolutely nowhere and even to this day (married with a new baby) she cant listen aslan any more.

Aslan songs never really registered with me when I was socialising as a 18 - 21 year old.

I will always remember Aslan songs though from visiting friends in Dublin back in 2000 - 2002 time.
Weā€™d be getting ready for hitting the town and the Aslan albums would be blasting out.

I was oblivious to the music but the boys were massive fans and couldnā€™t understand the boggers from the Country not being into or aware of Aslan.

Cormac McCarthy - maybe more a significant person rather than celebrity.
