Its a massive let down when you walk into it alright.
I mentally associate Sinnottās pub under the Stephenās Green shopping centre with the bar in Cheers because itās downstairs.
I expect that was the aim of the design too with its rectangular bar.
I actually like Sinnottās because I watched the last ten minutes of England 2 Croatia 3 in 2007 there and Liverpool beating Cardiff City on a penalty competition in the presteejus 2012 Carlingbough Cup final.
There is a scene in Cheers where Norm is standing outside on the footpath with his beer and Sam walks by.
He wondered what Norm was at and he told him that it was his anniversary and he was waiting for Vera.
Sam was impressed.
With that a car went by with an arm out the window and a beeping horn.
Norm waves back and says āHappy anniversary honeyā before turning to Sam and saying āLetās go downstairsā.
Iāll be in Boston later this year and plan to swing by, Iād already heard itās only the outside which was used in the show.
They do a great bogger carvery too. I was only there on Tuesday.
I have always found the service really good in there. But I wouldnāt drink in there - well not regularly anyway.
Itās a nouveau pub so can never be a cathedral but itās a beautiful design for a pub. I havenāt been there in 13 years Iād say. I must go again for no reason, perhaps when a blockbuster pre-Christmas Super Duper Sunday fixture between Arsenal and Liverpool is on.
The underground aspect to it fascinates me much as the underground nightclub part of the Isaac Butt opposite Busaras fascinated me, the Eblana Theatre underneath Busaras fascinates me, and the Harp Bar (which I was never in) fascinated me because it was underground.
Whereās Maris? Are you two taking separate elevators again?
Oh, no. Iām afraid Maris is having one of her episodes.
Ahā¦
In the middle of dressing for the evening, she suddenly slumped down on the edge of the bed in her half-slip and sighed. Course, I knew then and there that dinner was not to be.

Rick Derringer did not sing āReal Americanā, the Hulk Hogan theme music. Bernard Kenny, who also co-wrote the song, sang it, yet the song is always credited as āRick Derringerā only.
Cyndi Lauper did backing vocals.
Not gone yet but devastated to hear today that The Big Yin is in the departures lounge.
Shook a while. An absolute icon of a different era.

False alarm apparently
The funeral will be A Family Affair.
Hopefully thereās no travellers or thereāll be a riot goin on.
Thatās a relief. I loved him in the Rocky films.
