Remarkable, Glenn was an investment savant

Bed of heaven

My phone just went on fire :man_shrugging:

Sorry bro

Sorry to the lads who thought it was KK

I got a migraine reading that his life was so colourful. Gas the way we knew all these lads names growing up as we watched so much English telly. Imagine a twelve year old now knowing the name of a Tory politician.

It wouldn’t happen now.

The great Mike Ditka

A great character, probably only behind Tony Gonzales on the all time list at his position
This was a good game

A sad day for us Chicago Bears fans. We have lost our greatest leader.

What a man

A black man with the initials JA who had unproven allegations of plagiarism against him was relentlessly hounded to his death by the right wing press recently, turned into a figure of scorn, ridicule and hate, even though nobody had heard of him previous to this.

A white man with the initials JA who lied his way through life was teflon, attaining the highest level of status within OFFICIALLY RESPECTABLE British society, that of “national treasure”. And being a Baron.

No one forced him to kill himself.
His body, his choice, as the abortion crew would say.
Both were lying scumbags by the way, and that will be their legacy.

Hmmm. While i dont disregard your emotive post i do think you are guilty by omission when you dont include the fact that JA the second was put in prison for a couple of years for his lies. It’s not like he was never pulled up on his lies.

Watched quite a bit on Ditka today. What a man, what a personality. Crazy that 1985 defines him
completely in the history of the greatest city on earth, above and beyond the greatest basketball player of all time Michael Jordan. It’s a place in American pop culture that is hard to describe for someone who doesn’t get it.

These kinds of personalities won’t be replicated. He was was emotionally empathetic too, the fact that he recognised that not handing the ball off to Walter Peyton in the Super Bowl despite creating one of the most iconic moments in sports history (including this side of the Atlantic) by giving it to the Fridge is what makes him. The fact that he felt compelled to go back and coach for George Halas and the Bears. The fact that he felt embarrassed when he embarrassed his old coach Tom Landry with the Bears. The fact that he recognised that he wouldn’t have been anything without Buddy Ryan.

This is before we talk about his own personal achievements as a player which are astounding. His tight end records only broken when the NFL moved to 17 games.

The doyen of Chicago sports journalist Mike Wilbon sums him up @ChairmanDan

If an otherwise unknown person is suddenly bullied and hounded by the media, saying no one forced him to kill himself is just gaslighting and nonsense from you.

Huh? That season holds a particular resonance for Irish people because it was the first year it was broadcast on Irish telly but if I’m reading correctly that is waaay over the top
