Celtic Have Offered The Manager's Job To Owen Coyle

Peter Lawwell spoke to him this morning. Coyle is considering the offer.

I heard Pope Benedict is in the running for the job with Boruc his assisant manager.

Messiloney just texted me to say Lawwell met Mowbray in London last night and asking me what price he is

From TFK sources?

I’d be happy enough with that, happy enough to give the guy a chance anyway.

5/2 and Im sure as its short enough you can get more than 15 on it.

I heard Brian Kerr was on the shortlist. Seemingly he fielded a tentative inquiry from Peter Lawwell this morning. Kerr is allowing his name to be considered.

Faroes a bigger job than Celtic though.

SSN are reporting that Coyle has asked Burnley for official permission to speak to Celtic. I’d hate to think Peter Lawwell tapped him up and offered him the job earlier without Burnley’s permission.

Coyle clearly wants to come. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen. Would be nice to see another Irishman at Celtic Park but Bilic really appeals to me.

Wahey!

Contrary to widespread speculation, Burnley Football Club has not received any official approach from Celtic for the services of manager Owen Coyle.

Nor will the club welcome any approaches for Coyle, who remains under contract at Turf Moor.

Celtic haven’t approached Burnley, but Coyle has asked Burnley if he can speak to Celtic.

i.e. Glasgow Celtic have approached Coyle illegally and Burnley aint happy. It will force the Glasgow side to pay more in compensation if Coyle does leave, to stop Burnley reporting them to UEFA.

so what? does anyone give a shit about compensation as long as they get the right man

Glasgow Celtic have fuck all money so the less hush money they have to give Burnley the better I would think. I wonder how much Burnley are demanding. Wigan want 5m from Sunderland for Bruce so it could be 3m-4m compo for a rookie with no European experience or contact base.

doubt it would even be close to that

500k tops

I doubt they would have a huge compensation clause written into his contract as he was very unheralded before joining Burnley. Wigan, on the other hand, were said to have paid something ridiculous for Bruce last season so I imagine Wigan have inserted a clause to ensure that money will be recouped should another club try to tempt Bruce away from them.

Maybe but he isnt that long in the job for a start so they would have to pay up the rest of his contract anyway. Its Burnley’s first time promoted to the EPL so I reckon it could be significantly higher than 500k

“There has been no approach to Burnley Football Club. It is people simply putting two and two together and making five. I am going on holiday with my family this weekend and I can assure you I will be doing so as Burnley manager.”

Didn’t click into the link but you didn’t tell me you were going on holiday at the weekend, Rocko. What makes you think you’ll get the Burnley job before then by the way?
