Celtic Non-Matchday Discussion

Palma was meant to have had a good international break while Engels apparently had a stinker fro Belgium at weekend

Palma came on at half time in the Concafaf (spelling?) Nations League quarter final first leg at home to Mexico & scored a brace in a 2-0 win. The fans pelted the Mexico coach with cans & bottles at full time & he had blood pouring from his head. The Mexicans went & bate them 4-0 last night & Palma played the second half again. He has ability but I don’t think he’s suited to Celtic. He’s quite self-indulgent & constantly slows the game down which drives strikers demented when he ignores their runs. Not dissimilar to Mikey Johnston in that regard.

I saw Engels was praised for his display in the first game versus Italy but was heavily criticised for the second game when they lost to Israel. Think the coach is throwing a lot of young players in as they look to build a new team post the Hazard generation.

My information from people working in the game* in Scotland is that Rodgers thinks Miller is too slow. They’ve done analysis on him and think he has a low ceiling because of a lack of pace.

  • the game in this instance is financial services.

What’s the back round to this ?

I’ve seen that mentioned but haven’t noticed him being slow when he’s played against Celtic.

Celtic would take bigger allocations at practically all away grounds but some clubs prefer to sacrifice the additional revenue that would provide for a few reasons:

  1. a better chance of getting a result if you don’t give up most of your home ground to the away team

  2. not wanting to allow a fenian free for all on their own patch

  3. some will claim the extra policing / stewarding costs of coping with thousands of additional away support isn’t worth the hassle & offsets a lot of the revenue

But from an entertainment product point of view…it looks a bit shit when you see sparsely enough populated home sections in many cases.

Money.

The young lads are gone mad on St. Pauli, a German soccer team trailing at the bottom of the German Bundesliga. The wife wants me to sus out gear. What’s that Celtic link all about?

Any tips on twin-gear if ye know what I mean?

This is a St Pauli forum @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy

Basically it goes back to the 90s where hamburg alligned with rangers and Celtic with st pauli as both fans shared similar anti fascist leanings

Celtic played hamburg in a european games and the st pauli fans were with celtic fans fighting hamburg fans

The relationship has soured a lot recently over differinf views of the genocide in palestine.

The website is decent for gear but any hipster football store would have st pauli gear
