It’s depressing. Freebies and loans are more or less the height of it. It’s not as if we are short of funds. We’ve been turning big profits on players pretty much season on season.
The bit about needing a centre back on loan to spread funds is ridiculous. We should be well able to go out and sign 6/7 first team players outright this summer but the board seem intent on scrimping.

Smith - a carthorse, looks awful any time I’ve seen him
Zanka - decent but I’d say Celtic won’t pay the £6-7m Huddersfield will look for.

Perraud - don’t know
Arribo/Harper - freebies, not overly enamoured by both but are cheap and young.
Barker - probably a loan and I don’t rate him
Maupay - we won’t pay what Brentford want
Mousset - meh
I presume the PL in the leak is Peter Lawwell? Find it strange that its the CEO’s job to speak with players’ agents. Who is LC?

You’re just saying the good players are not going to be bought and the cheap players aren’t good enough.
If there are guys on the list who are too expensive you can’t also say that the list isn’t ambitious enough.
I’d say the low number of names is worrying but there is a whole range of budgets catered for on that list.
It’s not ambitious. It is more delusional. I can’t see Celtic paying £15m for a Championship striker of £6-7m on a Championship centre half who is nearly 30? Can you?

This is Congerton’s list clearly. It’s not much to do with Lawwell.
You have a problem with the cheap guys being too cheap and the expensive guys being too expensive. I think that tells you where the problem is.

I have a problem with that too but they hardly had a meeting to discuss players they didn’t want to sign.
When TFK had a mole in the dressing room it was all fine and harmless selection leaks. Now it seems a bit sinister and widespread though. Rodgers tried and failed to stop the leaks and it has continued under Lennon. But leaking transfer targets is more sinister and disruptive.
It’s not far off corporate espionage.
