Celtic Summer Transfer Window 2020 & Associated Malahide Public Amenities Discussion

The Toney fella you are keen to spend big money on scored 15 in his first 25 games last season in a division below the championship. He then hit a purple patch for the first time in his career, scoring 9 in 7. He is a 24 year old playing in League 1 and has played for 8 different clubs in his career so far, and flopped at the only big club he has been at. I don’t know why you are so keen on him, he is every bit as uninspiring as Fletcher.

I don’t judge players on stats.

Toney looks to have a lot about him, pace, power, composure and scoring instincts.

Fletcher is a donkey with a very, very questionable character and he’s 33.

To put Toneys achievements in context, a couple of seasons before he joined Peterborough Conor Washington was their main scoring threat. Jack Marriott had a similar record to Toney, got a move to Derby and has proven himself to be useless. Toney will do the same wherever he ends up.

You’re still judging players on stats and not ability.

Toney had 9 more goals than the next top goalscorer when the league came to a halt.

The only thing that gives me hope for the TIAR, is that rangers have that blithering idiot in charge.

Would the 9 titles won over the last 9 seasons not give you a glimmer of hope too?

Rangers have waved the chequebook big time.
Celtic are buying Wayne Truss off the bench at Oldham.

Keeping hold of Edouard and that very same chap staying fit will secure the 10IAR.

Any other transfer dealings will simply determine whether Celtic get knocked out in the Europa League group stages, last 32 or last 16.

It’s that type of higher level debating skill that sees @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy undefeated on the internet. The idea of spending millions on a journeyman League One striker being hawked about by Barry Fry remains idiotic though.

Toney is a good player.

A good player is a good player no matter what level he plies his trade at. If it came down to Ateji or Toney then Toney certainly looks like the better player but I don’t think Celtic will pay what Peterborough are looking for.

You seem unable to look beyond the stats, someone like Jamie Vardy would never have made it by your rationale.

Vardy has scored goals and proven himself everywhere he has gone, he was just not given chances to show what he could do at a higher level earlier in his career. Toney has flopped when given his chances at a decent level which is why he has had to drop down to League One.

Flopped when given his chances at a decent level? 2 apperances as a teenager in the EPL?

Maybe you should educate yourself before you show you haven’t a clue what you’re talking about.

The 3 biggest clubs he has played for are Newcastle, Barnsley and Wigan. He has 41 appearances for them combined and 5 goals. If that is the type of player Celtic should be after things are bleak.

Oh right.

I guess that is that then.

Every player should be judged on their career up until they are 21 and not after that

Someone should tell Beppe Signori he should have packed it in before he went on to Foggia.

Have you seen a lot of Toney in league one this year mate?

I’ve seen a few YouTube videos.

He looks like he has a lot more about him than Ajeti.

You are practically an authority on him then sure. Carry on

You are going back 30 years there for an example, which tells you everything you need to know. The lad is closer to a Zaki type player, except he has had his purple patch in League One rather than the premiership. It’s why Barry Fry is desperately looking for some fool to buy him for a ridiculous fee now, he clearly has at least one fella convinced.
