Celtic Summer Transfer Window 2020 & Associated Malahide Public Amenities Discussion

I know you don’t.

Going to be extremely close in my opinion. Lack of crowds suits rangers especially at ibrox.

Will be interesting to see how Lennon tries to shoehorn Forrest in now when he returns from injury.

Laxalt is a good signing, he’ll probably be just here for the year and presumably Celtic will try and get Doughty on a pre contract in January.

Laxalt also could be an option as an alternative to Forrest in a 4-2-3-1.

Johnston should also be back shortly.

I see Aitchison has signed for Barnsley, still think he could turn into a decent player in time, seemed to be very highly regarded but never kicked on.

Two late loan bids for Ntcham rebuffed thankfully.

First window in what seems a long time that we have exited with a notably stronger squad? Cut a lot of the rubbish (some only on loan) and brought in immediate quality to areas

Don’t think the fans or manager can have any complaints about the transfer window for once.

Forster was the only real first choice player to leave - he was on a loan to begin with and he’s been well replaced.

As an aside, I think Barkas has looked very good in a nice, understated way as he’s gone on. Very commanding and comfortable taking high balls and crosses.

Some good additions all over the pitch and players that should be first team starters and make us stronger. Crucial to keep Edouard and one or two others also.

An extremely busy period coming up after the international break starting with the game against the huns, taking in all 6 Europa League games, the deferred cup semi final and some challenging away league fixtures too.

Hopefully Stephen Kenny will rest Shane Duffy for these three Éire matches.

We really should have went for Toney over Ajeti.

Given that Toney is the top scorer in the Championship and Ajeti hasn’t scored since September - I think I have once again been vindicated.

Wasn’t it that dimwit @halfpipe who kept saying Toney was rubbish too?

Top scorer in the championship is vindication? You know Daryl Murphy, Chris Wood and Teemu Pukki (yes that Teemu Pukki) have all had that honour in the past 6 years? You saying they would all be value at £10m?

We paid £5m for Ajeti.

Brentford paid £5m for Toney plus bonuses that could rise to £10m.

I know which one looks a lot better of a deal. Toney will probably go for £30m next season.

Could probably have resigned Pukki for £7m if its lads who can perform at championship level you want.

Doubt it. Pukki is also 30.

Interesting piece from Stephen McGowan on the Ivan Toney deal in the summer.

“The one that sums it up best is Ivan Toney, who they had in Glasgow, actually in the building – who wanted to sign for Celtic and they could have got for £6 million. For whatever reason, probably financial, they decided not to commit and signed Ajeti.”

That’s about a 30 million pound swing there and that’s just on the value of the players not to mention European qualifications

Who the fuck watches even 30 seconds of Toney and Ajeti and signs Ajeti?

Peter Lawwell.

Cheap option.

This is what I said back at the time. Think there might have been a few posters who favoured Ajeti but it’s quite clear Toney is a far better player than him. Ajeti is a donkey.

Edouard and Toney in tandem would have hidden a multitude of other sins and possibly done the 10.

I’d agree.

The issue was Lawwell was averse to paying £6-7m on a League One striker in the final 12 months of his contract, regardless of how good he was or not.

On the other hand he was happy to justify paying £4.5m for Ajeti because he cost West Hame £9m about 6 months before that even though the guy is an absolute carthorse.

Lawwell see things about his own pocket, the guy hasn’t a clue about football.

If he moves to the EPL this summer should Brentford not go up it’s likely to be for a fee in excess of £30m.
