Celtic Transfer Window Summer 2021

Looks like we are after the other Rennes right back as well. Sacha Boey is his name, doesn’t seem to be as highly rated as Soppy though.

He seems to be more experienced though and was ahead of Soppy in the pecking order. So probably more first team ready but possibly lower potential.

Has he more experience. Going by wiki they seem relatively the same but Soppy seems to be way ahead in the international pecking order.

Soppy had played about 10 senior games, Boey has played about 50 (because he went out on loan). Soppy seems to be ahead of him in terms of national interest and potential alright. But Boey played against Celtic when their right back was injured, which makes sense as he’s a year older anyway.

Soppy and Boey are similar to Croppy and Boy.
Hardly a coincidence.

We’d hardly be in for the two of them?

The only reason I would doubt we are is that they are both relatively inexperienced and both would be moving for more first team football with one of them unlikely to get it.

We do need two right backs though, I don’t think I’d fancy going with O’Connor or Ralston as the back up. If Soppy or Boey arrive then I’d hope we’re also looking to bring in a more established right back as well.

Romano who broke the Starfelt story seems to think Soppy is our main target. Reports from Scotland say Boey

Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of Liel Abada on a five-year deal from Maccabi Petah Tikva subject to international clearance. The highly-rated Israeli international midfielder completed his move today (Wednesday) at Celtic Park.

Abada’s performances for his club last season earned him a call up to the senior Israeli squad and attracted interest from major European clubs.

The 19-year-old has predominantly played on the right-wing however, he was deployed as a centre forward on occasion in the latter half of last season which resulted in him scoring four goals in seven games for Maccabi Petah Tikva.

Abada came through the youth ranks at his hometown team Maccabi Petah Tikva and made his first-team debut with the club in January 2019 aged 17. He has gone on to make a total of 76 appearances for the Israeli club, scoring 20 goals along the way.

The teenage winger earned his first cap for the Israeli national side in June in a 3-1 win against Montenegro. That came off the back of an impressive 2020/21 season for Maccabi Petah Tikva in which he scored 13 goals in 38 appearances.

Abada is the third new arrival at Celtic under Ange Postecoglou following on from Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide. He is expected to begin training with his Celtic teammates on Friday (July 16th) when they return to Lennoxtown after Wednesday night’s game against Bristol City.

A 5 year deal suggests faith in his ability anyway.

I think that’s a decent price to get for him. Still a good signing for Brentford. He’s cheap by English standards.

It’s a good deal for Celtic all things considered. Should go a long way to doing a defensive refurb. Conceivably that fee should more than cover Starfelt, Vuskovic, Boey and Soppy if we were to sign all 3.

£5m fee mentioned so big commitment from Celtic for a J League player but he seems highly rated. He’s a left sided attacker by all accounts so will battle it out with Johnston.

Can’t imagine he’ll be involved in either of the games against this Danish mob with no training and likely quarantine requirements.

I don’t think celtic have ever signed a bad Japanese player. 100% record
