Disappointing stuff, could have got a run last year ahead of Kenny
A few rumours this evening that Celtic are going to buy someone tomorrow.
Probably a few other outgoing loan deals tbc too in addition to Urhoghide.
It sounds like it must be 40 a side at training.
Montgomery out on loan to Aberdeen by the looks
Mohanad Jeahze On the cusp of signing apparently. Iraqi left back currently with Hammarby.
This seems promising. It’s an area where we need more depth and he seems to fit the style and it looks like getting done early. A bit like the boys from Japan being announced on 31 December and all being ready to go when the league resumed after the winter break.
Possibly not a good sign(ing) for Scales’ long term prospects - I get the impression that there have been mainly Ange signings, e.g. Kyogo, Maeda etc, but a couple of ones that were thrust on him, e.g. McCarthy and Scales.
I don’t think Scales has featured since Bodo Glimt away when Ange rotated and we exited meekly. It’d be harsh to make him the fall guy for that, but there was a cup game before that where Scales actually scored despite being absolutely brutal. It was the game where Ange went apoplectic in the technical area because of the safe, conservative passing. He berated Scales several times for ignoring the option to make a progressive pass forward to instead turn away from goal and go back to the keeper or centre half. I dunno, I just don’t think he sees Scales as being dynamic, athletic and tactically clued in enough to play that inverted full back role.
I’d agree. I also think we need a midfield enforcer, though where on earth you’d find one I don’t know.
One problem I think recently is we haven’t really had players off the bench to change a game. Giakoumis seems to play best when he starts. He’s a different player to the other forwards, leads the line and I think we are more effective starting around him. Otherwise, recent substitutions in big games haven’t really made any impact. If Callum McGregor gets injured we would be in big trouble. The huns seem to be able to shrug off injuries and play pretty well regardless. I think we don’t have the squad depth yet.
I think we still have a few in the first team squad who are average enough.
I think The Huns play a system that is easier to fit into as it revolves around not having the ball , so it’s easier identify what each position needs to do …
This is probably true, but they had plenty of the ball in the last two old firms, albeit Celtic should still have won both bar glaring misses.
And they Still won neither …
Err they won one of them, drew the other.
Ah Extra time doesn’t count pal …

As predicted earlier:
Both will need replacing. Rogic in particular has been a brilliant player for Celtic but Bitton has been very useful too over a long time.
Rogic should have a few suitors will he? Would he get an EPL club?
I think he wants to be closer to Australia. He’ll go to an Asian team I think. He was close to doing so a couple of years ago.
