@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy whatās the latest on Noonan signing?
Desmond seems to have blocked the move to Germany, will come to Celtic in the summer - which is a win win for everyone
the noonan song is the best football song & the green brigade will love it
And all previous managers have been equally diplomatic during transfer windows, presumably trying to coax them behind the scenes to inject urgency & show some ambition while presenting a united front to the media. Sure even Rodgers was making similar comments as recently as August & we all know how he & the club hierarchy really felt.
Looks like Adamu and Mvuka doing medicals at the moment. Possibly one more.
Iāll have to research them further. Was more impressed with Ghedjemis and we seem to have messed that one up.
They were in for two left footed right wingers, ala Kuhn, in Ghedjemis & Redzic. Now they seem to have fucked both of them up so theyāve gone down their list of targets to Mvukaā¦but heās a right footed winger who has 0 (zero) goals & assists for Lorient this season. Some debate over whether his preferred side is left or right. Weāre already overstocked with left sided players with no end product in Tounekti & Balikwisha so not sure about this fella. He looks a level below the first two.
Amadu was first linked last night. Austrian striker with 1 (one) goal for Freiburg this season.
Nottingham Forest have bid Ā£14mn for Engels, according to Sky Sports. Not dissimilar to Idah in that he hasnāt delivered relative to what Celtic paid for him. Ā£14mn would be Ā£2mn-Ā£3mn above what Celtic paid whereas Idah was the same level belowā¦but either way whatās the point of selling lads if youāre not replacing them? Wouldnāt be surprised to see him go though tbh.
14 million quid buys a lot of monitoring
I think we need to wake up to the fact that a very average footballer is going to cost £10m these days. You only need to look at the likes of Idah, Azaz etc.
Engels is average or above average in that Celtic squad. He might be underperforming based on old values that donāt represent the modern market. But heās worth more that that today and as you said we no longer seem prepared to spend that money so we wonāt replace him even if we cashed in for a pointless āprofit.ā
Exactly. Thereās even swathes of the support so conditioned by the boardās stinginess that they rationalise it & talk in those terms. Like I donāt know if Kieron Bowie, for example, was the answer but Hellas Verona just came in & paid Hibsā Ā£6mn asking price. Plenty of Celtic supporters saying they wouldnāt go above Ā£3mn-Ā£4mn, being very protective of that massive cash balance in the bank & just not tuned in to football transfer values having ratcheted up hugely across the board.
Iām tired of this. My Tyrone friend was run from the TFK for calling out the board for years.
We were both vocal about the useless cunts during the 10 in the row year. Their inaction cost us the league. My friend was ridiculed, slammed.
Others backed the board, others backed the person who backed the board. They know who they are. No more of that.
I miss my friend.
Sweep sweep. Letās not pretend you didnāt back the board against Brendan Rodgers when he wanted to establish Celtic in the Champions League.
Being anti Mr Gucci mk2, and pro the Celtic board are not quite the same thing.
Iād struggle to think of a player less suited to Sean Dyche than Engels. He might look better around better players, but all his shortcomings are the type of thing that see players disappear entirely in a Dyche set-up.
Fair enough.
āversatileā is one way of putting it. I think it means he canāt score from anywhere.
Celtic have rejected an improved Ā£17.3mn bid from Nottingham Forest for Engels & told them heās not for sale in this window, according to Sky Sports.
Jesus they should take that.
Iād have said the same tbh.
Lad on SSN says Forest are weighing up a third offer. Youād imagine if it hits 20 million heāll be off, no way the board are turning down that offer.
