Celtic Transfers - 2013 Summer Transfer Window
I’ve watched a 14 minute YouTube compilation of him. I’m not all that impressed, while he is six foot, he seems to be quite frail, doesn’t seem to have any real great tactical or positional awareness and pretty ordinary in terms of technique and mobility.

He does seem to be a very clean striker of a ball however and had quite a few impressive long range goals. It is encouraging to finally see us linked with a midfielder though. I’d love us to get that Patosi lad we were linked with close season, he looked a great player.
he scored a cracker for Hap TA vs Mac Haifa in 3-0 win in november 2011, i was at the game
here is another one he got against Beni Yehuda a few years back at 1:27sec, and another one at 2:39 against Hapoel Haifa

some remarkable points being made here.
where would you suggest they move the club too?
would you be thinking along the lines of the Seattle Supersonics just deciding one day" fk it we’ll move to Olklahoma and change our name to the City Thunder". surely there would be some major logistical issues like moving a whole club to a different country? i know scotland is not a county but say if they were to move the club to Roscommon, you’d surely expect them to start from scatch in the local junior league

stop with the smart answer! mmm, remind me what country Cardiff city fc and Swansea city fc are based and what league they play in? they start in the roscommen junior league when they left Wales?

derry city too mate…

who could forget derry city!! celtic, with their world wide appeal and the revenues they could potentially generate, it would make financial sense to both the club and the league if they were to move.

Being linked with Schalke striker Teemu Pukki.

Hmm… haven’t seen much of him. Schalke had problems last year whenever Huntelaar was missing. They had lost Raúl obviously but didn’t have anyone else they trusted - Obasi and Pukki. I’ve seen very little of him, think he’s started about a dozen games in two seasons. His scoring record probably isn’t bad when you consider nearly all his appearances are off the bench.

Schalke bought Szalai this summer so it would make some sense that they’d be getting rid of their third choice striker.

He’s certainly a step down from Finbogasson I think, though I suspect we’ve never had much of a chance of landing him. Hard to know with guys like this. Hasn’t played much first team football even though he’s 23, but his record isn’t dreadful and he’s been at a couple of decent clubs and did score relatively well when at HJK according to wiki anyway. Also, interestingly he was used more in the CL by Schalke than in the Bundesliga - not sure if that coincided with injuries to Huntelaar or not.

Jackson Irvine has gone on loan to Kilmarnock.

I quite like the look of him in that video, seems to be a good finisher and very sprightly, also read that he has played a lot of football as a right winger so we might also get a genuine alternative to Forrest there. He’s quite young, has a decent record behind him and is available at a reasonable fee. I hope we try and sign him.

STV (who are usually bang on with their information) are reporting we have had a bid rejected for him.

His agent has confirmed we made a bid. Finnish media going with the story it was rejected too. Schalke apparently need a replacement before selling him.

Neil Lennon has confirmed that we’ve made a bid for Teemu Pukki, which has been turned down. He watched him play for Finland on Wednesday night and said we’re going back in with another bid. He compared Pukki to Hooper so I’d therefore be delighted if we sign him.

He was very open in his press conference today. Confirmed our interest in Finnbogasson too, but seemed to be suggesting that was less likely of going through. He specifically mentioned his hope that we’d get Pukki before Monday’s deadline and that we’re working hard on it.

Being linked with a lot of players in the last couple of days. We were paired with Emeghara but he now looks set to sign for Livorno - he’s a decent player but not the type we need.

We have also been linked with Pablo Piatti (I’d say there’s no chance of this happening).

Ciani of Lazio has been linked as well - the report says that Lazio will allow him to leave for £1.5m. I’m very surprised by this as he had a very solid season for Lazio last year when called upon. We were linked with him last year and I’d be pleased if we pulled this one off.

Cameron Stewart of Hull City has also been linked. Don’t know much about him really. £500k fee mentioned and he is a right winger so it would be good to get some genuine competition for Forrest.

The Express also claims that we are about to send McGeouch out on loan in the SPL for the season which I see as a good thing as he’s really stagnated since breaking through.

@footballtshirtuk Signing back in as a Celtic fan.

Lennon expects to have 2 signings by midweek with one agent due at Celtic Park for talks on Monday.

Pukki still being strongly linked and looks like the most likely arrival. Cameron Stewart won’t be happening, Lennon confirmed we were interested in previous windows but he has been injured and we’re not following up this window.

Are we happy with Pukki as a replacement for Hooper? Seems the most likely signing now but far from certain. I’m not convinced but I’m encouraged by our persistence, which suggests we’ve done a bit of homework and rate him highly (or his wage demands are puny) and at this stage I’m worried we’ll get nobody.

@Rudi do you still think we should make do with the stickers we already have? Didn’t see the match at the weekend but Baldé and Watt impressed, without being spectacular, by most accounts.

Quote from Horst Heldt (Schalke GM) today:

“There is still contact between Celtic and Schalke. Celtic are very persistent in trying to make the deal happen. It remains open for a transfer.”

Happy enough with Pukki but mainly because of the potential to get some variation of a Daft Punk Get Pukki chant going.

Hooper would have buried the one on one Watt fluffed on Saturday - we definitely need another striker.

@mickee321 - tell me about Israeli Under 21 international Nir Biton. A midfield player apparently and brought to us by the same agent that flogged us Kayal, Ambrose and Gershon. I’m not sure I can accept a Celtic player whose name is an anagram of NI Briton but I can certainly accept a player whose name is an anagram of No Brit NI. Is he a catholic?
