Euro
Not a great deal in the two bids so.
FYI, I was using a 0.876 exchange rate in work on Friday.
No, but the Wolfsburg bid was said to be rejected. It may have been must rumour though.
Villa were linked with him last season and he was meant to be the plan b if they didn’t get the Belgian Beast so I kept an eye on him last season. He certainly knows where the goal is. A good strong player at the right age as well.
Lovely stuff.
A reliable source of mine in a satellite town near Glasgow tells me that drawing Shahkter Bag of Candy is having an adverse effect on us completing purchases. Targets, as is their wont, are waiting to see how the tie pans out rather than committing in advance of it. Basically, these pampered bastards don’t fancy the trip to the middle of nowhere and are wanting the existing team to do the work before joining late in August when our participation in the group stage is confirmed.
@Rocko, @Rudi, @briantinnion, @Monkey Allen - is tomorrow the definite deadline for signing players for the Champions League final qualifying round? Or is there another one of those wild card signings allowed to be added to the squad right up to the day before the tie?
Finnbogason was asked about Celtic’s interest today when speaking to the press on international duty. He was non-committal. Talk of Lazio entering the race and Augsberg have joined Celtic in bidding for him. He spent time living in Scotland as a kid - I didn’t know this.

There’s another emergency deadline right before the tie alright.

I am pretty sure you can’t add to the squad now - @Rocko what’s your sauce on this?
Paragraph 18.14 of the Regulations.

Would have liked a link to the actual regulations so there was an audit trail to the UEFA website. Thanks all the same though.
Please click on the word Regulations in my original post. Call yourself an auditor. FFS. Just because you can’t see the link doesn;t mean it’s not there. Substance over form and all that.
Well that’s the point - I should be able to see it. If this was a real world business situation I’d have had to give you a review point asking for the source, then you’d have had to respond and I would have had to go back and clear the review point.
And this has absolutely nothing to do with substance over form. Nothing. Sufficient appropriate audit evidence perhaps but not substance over form.

The substance of the post contained a link to the Regulations. The form of the post meant this was obfuscated. Instead of looking beyond the window dressing and judging the post on its real function, you merely glanced at the surface and reached an erroneous conclusion on the basis of what the post looked like.
Let’s not dwell on it, but you erred.
Benfica are reported to have contacted Celtic to enquire about Forster.
certainly @Bandage
as you are well aware my assessment of the last player to leave Israel and join Celtic, that being Effie Ambrose was proven to be 100% correct in the finish and after a couple of absolute fluke performances proceeded to deliver exactly what was expected of him.
anyway, i dont know what Yadin can bring to Celtic, he is a very slow midfielder who usually sits in front of the back 4, he would have a similar enough style to say Ray Wilkins - w/o the crab type movement i may add,
He left Hapoel TA last year and joined Haifa on a 5 year deal, he was one of Reuvan Atar’s big money ill fated signings along with Dino Ndlovu. As you all know, Haifa had a disastrous opening to last season loosing 6 of their first 10 games, Atar ( who you might remember scored a winning goal in the Par de Princes in 1989) was fired and replaced by the very affable Arik Benado. Benado changed the team around, Yadin, Ndlovo , Tamir Cohen and Yaniv Katan were frozen out . Instead he built his team around the speed of Hen Ezra and Eyal Golassa and Haifa proceded to go unbeatem until the send of the season, beat Mac TA twice and finish second.
Yadin, really only played a minor role last year, Gustavo Boccoli ran their midfield and Yadin just never really took off, id imagine he wants out of his contract and im intrigued to know what Celtic would pay…
He was however very important part of Hapoel TA’s 2010 title wining side, he would have played vs Celtic in 2009 and was on that team that beat Lyon and Benfica in the CL group stage in 2010.
elsewhere, Kayal starts for Israel in the Ukraine tomorrow night, Maor Melikkson starts as well in a 3 man forward line
I’ve watched a 14 minute YouTube compilation of him. I’m not all that impressed, while he is six foot, he seems to be quite frail, doesn’t seem to have any real great tactical or positional awareness and pretty ordinary in terms of technique and mobility.
He does seem to be a very clean striker of a ball however and had quite a few impressive long range goals. It is encouraging to finally see us linked with a midfielder though. I’d love us to get that Patosi lad we were linked with close season, he looked a great player.
Celtic are pissing me off, lads leaving to go to diddy teams in England. Celtic need to get the fuck out of Scotland. the league is a 1 horse race and they’ll only ever get so far in Europe. one off wins against a Barcalona or AC Milan come around once every 5 years, so where’s the fun or excitement in following them anymore?
