Celtic Transfers - 2013 Summer Transfer Window
Yeah, you’re right.

I only watched the end of this video where he scores a succession of goals with his left and also dribbles quite heavily on it.

Does seem to have a very good left foot in any case.
Yeah it’s no harm. I wasn’t sure but had looked it up on transfermarkt.de a while back and there’s a video that starts with him thumping in a long ranger with this right that confirmed it for me.

Just heard from a reliable source that Villa have gazumped Celtic on the Tonev deal.

oh I see Rocko has already reported this.

I think given the choice, Tonev will do the same as Wanyama and turn down Villa and the EPL for Celtic and the CL.

Apparently Lennon was at the French Cup final looking at Evian players Brice Dja Djedje (22) and Yannick Sagbo (25). Both of them have a year left on their contract so could be got for reasonable prices. Dja Djedje is a right back and Sagbo a striker. Don’t know why we would need another right back though unless we are planning on selling Lustig or Matthews.

Seems we are definitely on the lookout for a striker who can lead the line. I think we only need the one striker this season in any case. We can afford to lose Miku, Hooper and Lassad. Watt and Stokes are really good attackers and we also have Sammy who can fill in there as well as other young players such as Atajic, George and Keating.

Our shopping list should go something like this:

Centre back
Left back
Winger
Attacking midfielder
Striker

And direct replacements for the likes of Wanyama, Kayal etc if they leave.

Linked with Ayanda Patosi this morning. He’s a 20 year old centre midfielder who plays with Lokeren in Belgium.

Looks like a decent footballer.

Portuguese media are reporting that Celtic have agreed a fee of 2m Euro for Amido Baldé.

Russell looks closer to moving to Derby but still time for Celtic to intervene I’d imagine. Do we think he’s more of a Fletcher/McCarthy or a Goodwillie? I think he looks decent but he’s not really the type of striker we need.

There’s a picture doing the rounds on Twitter of Baldé’s agent holding a piece of Celtic FC headed paper. How exciting.

It’s been mentioned for months that Celtic are monitoring Russell. I sense that we think Dundee United will ask for more money from us so we’re taking a watching brief and may then intervene once they agree a fee with someone else. As in, we’ll just match the bid rather than deal directly with them. I think he’s a good player and would welcome the signing.

All that said, I guess that these potential signings are dependent on Hooper’s future though we’ll be losing Miku for definite.

Neil Lennon is giving a press conference in Dublin at the moment. He’s confirmed “The Dublin Decider” between Celtic and Liverpool at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 10th August at 5.30pm.

He said the Baldé story is summer “silly season” stuff but worryingly confirmed that Kevin Doyle is a target.

I presume this is some sort of elaborate bluff from Lennon. I imagine Doyle might be close to free as I presume his wages are too high for Wolves to find palatable in the third flight of English football but his form has been dreadful. He’s no better than Daryl Murphy at the moment, though obviously he has much greater capacity to improve if he can reproduce his old form.

Amazing that dunphy named Doyle on his best Ireland team of all time a few years back.
Well, not really that amazing given it was eamo but still.

Of all time? FFS Sake. I’d forgotten that. Absolutely preposterous.

I know, he really doesn’t get these things brought up to his face enough. That he would even consider it shows the scale of Doyles fall from grace though. He was never a really top striker or going to be but he was very good in a specific role for a while especially for Ireland. Doyle at his best would be a great option for Ireland still and would do very well for Celtic. Is it mainly injury has him fallen so far?
I’m really interested as to what TASE feels on this matter and it wouldn’t be at all boring and repetitive if he replied here.

Celtic and Stokes are negotiating over the terms of a new contract at present. Neil Lennon mentioned at yesterday’s press conference that they’d been speaking and a few details needed to be ironed out but he was completely certain it would be resolved in the coming days. So cue the “Stokes rejects Celtic contract” stories in the Scottish press today.

Ridiculous. Not only did Stokes reject the contract but he was not happy with the terms of that contract apparently.

Alex O’Henley is reporting that Sevilla and Newcastle have now entered the race for Baldé. Who was that striker we were in for around the time we signed Bangura and who ended up going to Sevilla? It’s unlikely we’ll be able to compete financially with whatever these two clubs are offering. Post Wanyama and one or two others, I wonder are we being monitored by other clubs who then latch onto players we’ve targeted – we need to do our business privately and quickly.

Baba Diawara. He hasn’t played that much for them I don’t think.

Celtic will not look to make a permanent move for Rami Gershon.

Expected I guess though I thought he looked decent enough.
