Transfer for the manager. Bring Mick home.

Rasmus Falk is the winger we’re linked with. Out of contract with Odense in the summer, aged 23.

Sviatchenko signing confirmed on the official club website. 4.5 year deal.

I’m delighted with this. Really seems to fit the ball of the type of player we should be acquiring or trying to acquire anyway.

Yes. And plenty of time to develop a partnership with (presumably) Simunovic before the European qualifier games in July and August too.

Sviatchenko has given a press conference this morning.

  • He’s a Defender with a capital D.
  • His hobbies are art, literature, music and fashion
  • He rejected EPL offers because Celtic are a much bigger club than some of the Premier League clubs.

He’s only in pre-season training at the moment so will be a couple of weeks before he can play.

Anyone a little worried about his stature? He seems quite small for a centre back, he could turn out to be another Hooiveld.

He seems fairly small in this video from training today:

But he seemed to be a combative type in the other videos as opposed to being a windy streak of piss like Hooiveld.

Yep. I concur. I was alarmed when I saw him beside Deila who looks taller but he seems to be am aggressive sort.

He’s not dissimilar in stature to Denayer. He’ll hopefully have an aerially commanding sort beside him in Simunovic and he can mop up or get stuck in too as required.

Hooiveld listed bodybuilding as one of his hobbies. :grinning:

22-year old Croatian defensive midfielder Ljuban Crepulja is in Glasgow to sign for Celtic according to reports.

I understand he’s here on trial. The other Croatian lad we were linked with (beginning with M if I recall correctly) looked better.

That Falk lad signed for FC Copenhagen today.

Mocinic was the other chap, I think. He’s more of an attacking midfielder than the trialist guy. Saw mention on Twitter of some club whose name I can’t recall bidding €2.6m for Mocinic.

Mocinic apparently doesn’t want to move before the Euros.

I see a few papers were mentioning Steven Fletcher joining on a free transfer this summer.

My first thoughts were no thanks but on full consideration:

  • it’s not his fault he was sold for £12m. He hasn’t justified that fee but he’s not woeful either
  • he’s only 28
  • he’s better than Ciftci and Cole.

He’d be no harm on a free transfer.

2 year deal at 20 a week is fine with me.

Celtic reported to have ended their interest in the Croatian holding midfielder chap after his trial.

Believed to have spoken to Manchester City about taking striker Patrick Roberts on loan. They paid Fulham £11m for the 19-year old striker last season. We’ve got this link with them now via Lawwell’s son and it follows from the Denayer loan and Boyata buy but I don’t think we need a striker on loan for the rest of the season. Maybe if we were still involved in Europe.

McGeady linked with a loan move to Leeds.

Disappointed we aren’t going for the holding midfielder. We need one

That all sounds pretty shit.

McGeady would be better off at Celtic than Leeds. That’s a basket case of a club.

We really really need a holding midfielder.

I could see some merit in getting Denayer last year - we needed cover and he is a good player. We also clearly wanted to try and get him for 2 years which would have been good. But he left a huge hole this year when he left because a key position for us was filled by a loanee. That was sort of acceptable when it was a goalkeeper because you can always acquire short-term goalkeepers if you need to, but we shouldn’t be doing that with outfield players. And it makes absolutely no sense when we’re not in Europe as you say. There’s no point to it at all. I’d guess we’re hoping to get him for a season and a half but even then it’s unappealing.
