Me either, but he asked for it not to be brought up, I mean what Celtic fan truly gives a shite what he thinks anyway? He’s the past, as Celtic is the past for him. I can imagine he gets plagued with those sort of questions when he comes to Ireland, maybe he felt it best to put the foot down from the off.
There’s no need to specifically ask for it no to be brought up and being awkward about it is all. A token answer and move on. He was being difficult for the sake of it. I’ve got no truck with him by the way.
I think perhaps he didn’t want to answer a question about McGeady given their falling out. He was being smart about it though I thought. You never really know with Strachan though. Sometimes he seeks to be difficult I think
Gary Hooper. That bhoy’s destined for very, very big things.
When we turned down Billy Sharp a couple of years ago and I wondered was that the last great striker to emerge from Scunthorpe. This guy is all that and more though.
According to SSN, celtic are in talks with Paul McShane
Ouch!(If true)
This must be made up. I haven’t checked my usually reliable sources yet because I refuse to be duped by The Puke.
Well i never
FAO mickee321:
Do you know anything about Biram Kayal? I’ve been informed that Celtic are trying to sign him.
I’ve just watched the 10 minute obligatory You Tube of this character. Tough tackling central midfielder for Maccabi Haifa. Likes to break forward and seems comfortable on the ball. His gait and posture reminds me of a young Stan Petrov. Apparently they’re trying to get this completed tonight as midnight is the deadline to register players for the Champions League tie against Braga. There’s a caveat in that you can add one additional player to your squad up to 24 hours before the tie but we want to save that for Craig Bellamy.
Bando
Ive seem this lad play twice for maccabi Haifa, once against Bayern last year and then later on against Hapoel in the league and 2 years ago for Israel against Greece in Herakilion where he gave away a spotter.
He is definitely one of the more prominent young Israeli players coming thru, he is a slight enough lad but has a tackle on him all the same,
The only worry I would have is that Scottish football is a polar opposite to the ligat ha’al in Israel.
In Israel , football is played at an incredibly slow pace, players in general lack physicality, think benayoun, berkovic, cohen at Bolton however they are quite technically good.
I would worry about this fella stepping up to the pace and physicality of the Scottish game on a wet Saturday in say Iverness to be honest.
The transfer fee they have agreed is interesting believe its 1.2 million euro which is exactly what maccabi tel aviv paid for eliran atar from beni Yehuda last month and would be a record for maccabi Haifa
Both hapoel tel aviv and maccabi tried to sign him but the asking price they thought was too much,
Itll be interesting to see how it develops
Thanks for that, mickee. Some quotes from his agent in the Scottish press today saying he’s keen to sign for Celtic despite interest from Galatasaray and FC Twente.
As I exclusively revealed during the week, Gary Hooper will officially be a Celtic player within the next 48 hours. Scunthorpe have accepted a bid from Celtic and he’s coming up to have the medical and finalise personal terms.
David James is also travelling up on Monday to speak to Neil Lennon and take a look around Celtic Park and Lennoxtown.
It appears Lennon’s been working on a 4-2-3-1 in the pre season games so far so it’ll be interesting how we line up in Braga on Wednesday night.
This thread will do.
Rod Stewart in Glasgow the other night; tribute to Tommy Burns at the end:
David James is all but agreed at this stage apparently.
I believe there is actually something to these William Gallas rumours. Initially I thought it was paper talk.
McGeady to Villa is a done deal my sources tell me

[/quote]He’s far too good for them to be fair…
from an irish supporter perspective I hope MON changes his rigid selection policy as it is likely young Aiden will spend a lot of time on the bench if not. we do need cover out wide and Downing was pretty shit when he came in last season so ya never know.
Only thing holding up the McGeady move is that Lennon is looking for a makeweight in the deal. Blackburn also want Heskey though so this could be a drawn out affair in typical MON fashion.
I’m hearing that Nicky Shorey might be the makeweight and there’s no interest in Heskey.
The interest in Heskey is valid though as a star international striker he is unlikely to fancy the step down. Brad Guzan too interests Lennon.
