Hmmm… very good keeper a few years back but downhill since. Still more than capable.
when celtic started rationalising you never complained- in fact you hushed me when i booed lawell- now Celtic are gettign worse results in Europe than sporting fingal & you still think everything is rosy
david james gone to bristol city… obviously realizes that bristol city are a bigger club than celtic and play at a higher standard.(the championship) it would be funny if it wasnt true…
McGeady is travelling to Moscow to open discussions according to Sky. Would prefer he went to Germany, Spain or Italy for Ireland’s sake but it would be an interesting move for him. Spartak aren’t having a great season - saw them on ESPN last weekend or two weekends ago and they were poor enough. They have some good players, and it’s a good league they play in, but I’d guess he’s still hoping there will be other offers. I’d imagine the money offered to him from Spartak will be significant.
& if i recall my studies on russian taxation i believe it will be significantly less than in the island known as britain
it is standard practice at this stage for players and managers to head up to Parkhead for ‘talks’ then use this as leverage to get the club they want to move to to up their wages a bit. James, Campbell, Stephen Reid, Roberto Martinez, Alan Irvine all have in the last 12 months. Sad to see from the former European giants.
as gus mcpherson says everyone realises the gulf between the SPL and the second tier of English football. But I’d say the location of Bristol over Glasgow also played a part in Jamo’s decision.
Cant see the McGeady move to Moscow working out at all. He has always striked me as a small town hero type but if Moscow are stupid enough to spend 6m on him then its their problem. Sure he will make a few quid and head back to Britain like Garry O’Connor in less than a year.
Only two of those mentioned in your list went to Glasgow and one failed his medical in a particularly thoughtful manner so as not to cause offence to Celtic which was very good of him.
The bid for McGeady is £9.5m apparently.
Anyway back to real news:
Stuart Baxter has joined Celtic as a part-time advisor.
Cillian Sheridan is about to sign for CSKA Sofia on a 3 year deal and a transfer fee of 500k to Celtic. Brave move from him, not sure he has what it takes at all but hope it works out for him.
Ah for fook sake KIB give it a rest. For an Irish fan you sure don’t like putting McGeady down.
Would much rather McGeady went to Russia than a run of the mill EPL club but like others my preference would have been a move to Germany, Italy or Spain. Real pity and I think we suffer for having virtually no players of note playing outside England or Scotland.
Ferry and Caddis have both signed for Swindon. Two reasonable players with a small bit of potential but neither quite good enough to make it at Celtic and probably suits everyone for them to move on.
I hope Lennon isn’t counting Baxter’s time with Finland as part of his Scandinavian experience!
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has confirmed that Finland coach Stuart Baxter will offer his support on an ad-hoc basis.
The Finnish FA had blocked the idea of the 56-year-old being able to job share in order to take up a director of football role in June.
“He’s got a job with the Finnish FA and he’ll be a phone call away to bounce a few ideas off him,” Lennon said.
“The one thing I do lack is experience and he’s had a very lengthy career, not just in Scandinavia but elsewhere.”
Lennon succeeded Tony Mowbray as Celtic manager at the end of last season and is keen to call upon Baxter’s experience.
“He doesn’t need to be my pal, we’re just going to talk football,” the former Celtic captain added.
Lennon has recruited Johan Mjallby and Alan Thompson, also former Celtic players, to his backroom staff.
Under Baxter’s stewardship, Finland, ranked 52 in the world, finished third, behind Germany and Russia, in their qualifying section for the 2010 World Cup.
And the Finns have been drawn with Holland, Sweden and Hungary in a tough qualifying group for Euro 2012.
Baxter, who was also England Under-19s coach during Sven-Goran Eriksson’s reign, was linked with Celtic 12 years ago, following the departure of then manager Tommy Burns.
All I’ll say now is, Welcome back to Celtic one Craig Bellamy.
This is very, very close to happening.
Rocko’s posts about our 'keeper situation on Page 13 really stand out on this thread. On the other hand, I think I’ve been correct in everything I’ve posted.
why would Bellamy sign for celtic? they are a shite club, playing in a shite league and he would probably have to take a big reduction in wages… ffs the only club that seems really interested in possibly the best player in scotland (mcgeady) is russian…
The terms offered by Spartak to McGeady: top-notch apartment, driver, translator, bodyguard and chef. Plus £40k a week (tax-free apparently)

I think Bellamy is on something like 90K a week (in or around, my memory is shit this morning and couldnt be arsed checking). He loves Celtic, but I doubt he loves them that much.
I respectfully withdraw those comments. Apologies for the error of judgement.
Bellamy adores Celtic and will sign for Celtic. It’s the biggest club he’s ever played for and he was sensational in his brief spell with them so he’s willing to take a 50% pay cut to join up again.
Bellamy is probably my favourite non Irish/Celtic player. A superb human being
+1. Quality player and person.
I used to hate Bellamy but then took to him when he joined Liverpool and beat Riise with those golf clubs. He took a corner for City last year in front of the Kop who gave him a tremendous reception and he responded by applauding back.
An alright sort.
Doesn’t he do charity work in Wales?

He does charity work everywhere. His foundation in Sierra Leone is probably his most high profile work.
I think its safe to say Craig Bellamy is a hero of this forum.
