Celtic Transfers - Summer 2016 Window ☘ 💷

We can add one more player after tonight by the way.

I’m not sure about signing flaky/wingery types like Scott Sinclair. We need some centre midfield and centre back reinforcements.

Grant Hanley is off to Newcastle. Blackburn will hardly sell both their centre halves now

Kolo Toure is expected to sign tomorrow and Scott Sinclair is also meant to be joining early next week. Strong rumours also that Charlie Mulgrew will sign again after his contract expired at the end of last season. Only one more player can be added to the squad for the next Champions League qualifying tie.

Celtic are also linked with signing Patrick Bamford and Nathaniel Chalobah on season long loans from Chelsea.

Wasn’t this chap on loan at Napoli last season? Assume he must have a bit about him

He was indeed.

Not a fan of loans.

Think we should part company with Mulgrew.

I think we’ll be parting company with Ambrose so Mulgrew would just be cover. I’m not terribly fussed either way but if it plays any part in Ambrose making fewer appearances then I’ll take it.

Not sure why we’d need Bamford.

Toure, Sviatchenko, Simunovic and Boyata with Ajer possibly too is plenty of centre backs and would seem to rule out Duffy.

I’ve a feeling Simunovic will be gone by January if he’s not fit enough to get a move this summer. I’d be happy enough with Bamford because I dislike that mutant head Griffiths.

As I posted earlier. Blackburn sold their other centre half for £5.5 million to Newcastle. Presume that is why the Duffy deal is dead as they no longer want to sell him

We need central midfielders, proper ones, by the bucket load.

Mulgrew is a busted flush, just an average utility player. We need to cull at the minute as he’s one of the easiest to cull so let him go.

I don’t think Duffy would be a significant upgrade on Mulgrew. I’d prefer Duffy but I’d rather save a couple of million to bolster the midfield.

Toure was at the game yesterday and will sign today. Some talk that he won’t be our wildcard for Astana game. Presume that’s fitness related. Sinclair seems likely to sign tomorrow.

Thinking back on the Mulgrew link, I wonder could it be in any way related to the fact he’d count as a homegrown player for Europe - might be enough to try and get him ahead of Ambrose, though I’ve no idea if that’s an issue or not.

I’m hearing Sinclair for £4.5m is done. £3.5m up front.

Anything concrete to the Bamford links? Seem to be still circulating, I’d be happy with this signing if we cant get an option on him.

Not a fan of these “dry loans” as they usually leave a gaping hole the following season. Roberts is becoming a key player for us and we haven’t a dicky bird’s chance of keeping him beyond this season.

If we got Bamford and Sinclair in I’d be happy with out attacking options.

Defensively, I think we are ok when everyone is back fit, ship Ambrose on and bring in a right back and we’ll go with that.

Midfield is where the real work needs to be done. We have far too many bodies here and I think we should move the following on:

Mulgrew
Commons
GMS
Henderson
McGregor

Get a couple of out and out central midfielders in and I’d be happy enough with that window.

Some step down for Bamford.

It’s gone quiet on the transfer front again. Sinclair is still linked but I’m not pushed about him. Other players are possibly waiting to see if we get through against Astana next week. I too think we badly need a quality centre midfield player more than anything else.

More stories on Sinclair today. Seems inevitable he’ll join eventually.

GMS is off to Ross County on loan. We’re making decent progress at slimming down the bloated squad anyway, even if the likes of Allan and GMS are only being loaned out for now.

Yes, a season long loan to Rotherham for Scott Allan. Slimming down the squad is good but I’d have others going out before Allan and GMS. While I’m not that bothered about it, I’m a little wary of Brendan moving someone on too hastily. Remember he was open to getting rid of Jordan Henderson before he proved himself indispensable to Liverpool.

Sinclair is having a medical in Glasgow. He will be a good signing for us, himself and Roberts give us real menace on the wings.

A right back and a couple of midfielders and I’m relatively happy with that.
