He certainly wonât be taking the Andy Robertson route . Five years or so ago AR was doing a shift in M&S and playing for Queenâs Park ( not QPR) .
I was going along the lines of a move to a mid table Premier League club and then if he is good enough a top club might pick him up.
Top clubs wonât take a chance on a lad straight out of the Scottish league. The jump in standard is too high.
he got 17 league goals in his first season and 5 in his second. He is very injury prone.
Iâd take the profit all day on him. I donât think heâs all that.
I presume this shit storm has occurred because Celtic were doing all they could to hold onto him. Theyâll probably get a player on loan from City today.
He bullied the Huns
Was great in Europe too
Lawell out
Any news on John Terry?
Lawwellâs son works with Manchester City and heâs used that angle to get Boyata, Ntcham, Roberts (on loan) and now Arzani. Talk that Rodgers didnât want Arzani. They were linked with another chap from there called Douglas Luiz the other day but not sure what position he plays in.
Rodgers obviously has contacts at Swansea, Chelsea and Liverpool. Think we might have burned our bridges with Chelsea after the Musonda loan disaster last season so my prediction is we get someone from Liverpool on loan - are Solanke and Origi still there? Ings would have been an option but heâs left.
JT would love to play with Celtic but is 37 now and doesnât think he can do the jersey justice. Iâve a heck of a lot of respect for the guy.
Douglas Luiz is a deep lying playmaker. Was brought in from Brazil and spent last season on loan out at Girona where he couldnât get a game. He had one really good game against Madrid but couldnât get in the team as the manager couldnât trust him with the defensive side of it. It was a terrible loan for him. Learned nothing.
Paddy Roberts is gone out to Girona now. I think Guardiolaâs brother is involved with Girona so a lot of the City young lads end up out there.
Arzani was brought in from Melbourne I think. A tricky wide player who could tear the Scottish league apart.
Solanke wonât go Scotland, heâs getting on the bench at Liverpool and Ings wouldnât have been moved on if they thought he needed a loan.
Better chance of Origi. Gerrard has similar contacts at Liverpool and will probably fight Celtic on any loan deal out of there.
Iâm surprised Celtic havenât mined the LOI for players. Basically a no risk strategy, buy em cheap, pay em fuck all in relative terms and the obvious Irish player for Celtics Irish fans bonus. A strike rate of one in ten would pay no bother. Theyâd surely manage that.
Celtic try get them before LOI. They have a lot of nursery relationships with clubs in Dublin Iâm sure. A good gaggle of young lads go over on trials every year from clubs before LOI.
I get the feeling Dembele wonât be sold because we wonât have a replacement lined up and weâll be told itâs like signing a new player. Though heâll be a pissed off player.
Heâs a superb player and no issue with him moving on and the fee seems reasonable but itâs fairly bizarre that itâs a surprise to Celtic that there have been late bids for him.
Ah ya but you canât get em all. The likes of Seanie Maguire or Graham Burke for example would have made decent signings for next to nothing
Maguire or Burke wouldnât get onto the Celtic bench.
Dembele and Edouard are vastly better. Griffiths is comfortably better.
Not disagreeing with the strategy but McClean and Coleman were linked with Celtic but ultimately went elsewhere. Otherwise itâs a very mixed bag and many of them need a few months to be fit enough to compete.
what would they be going for? 150 to 200k?
would the transfer fee not cover the cost of missing out on group stage proper of champions league.
I presume the margins are tight at Celtic?
Heâll go, I reckon.
Is there anything in the Celtic academy they might push forward if they canât get one in
what would they be going for? 150 to 200k?
Burke was âŹ350k, Maguire was undisclosed but a lot less.
They wonât make the same profits as last year but they wonât make a loss or much of a loss if they get Europa League group stages. They already have good money in for Armstrong too.
Thereâs a guy called Atchison who looks decent but doesnât seem to be trusted yet.
Signs look ominous enough for Aitchison. Scored for first team at the end of Deilaâs last season in May 2016 when he was 16. Roll forward to August 2018 and heâs meant to be going on loan to Dumbarton in the third tier in Scotland. Ideally heâd have developed to such an extent that heâd be going to an SPFL club on loan or even be pushing to get on the bench at Celtic.
Itâs a shot at nothing though. Pick up two best LOI players every year and over 5 years surely a 3-4 would work out and a sale fee from one would cover the cost of the whole exercise. Even if they were only scratching around the fringes at Celtic they can still sell them to weaker SPL clubs for multiples of what they bought them for. Plus the Irish connection bonus, get the likes of @Bandage buying shirts and idolizing a Celtic Irish player he wouldnât walk down the road to see when he played LOI
you are taking a shit on the investment in your academy with that model though.
