There isnât a sale market though. Celtic canât get rid of proven SPL players like Scott Allan for any sort of fee. A lad who has been hanging around the fringes of the squad isnât going to command a fee.
Some might work out if they impress on loan or something but Celtic can already have their pick of young Scottish players when theyâve proven themselves (unless they fuck up the transfer deal like McGinn) so not sure they want to be carrying more squad players around who wonât play much or at all.
Something like that. They thought they were selling Maguire so brought him in and now donât need him. Boyata was actually really good tonight (against poor opposition) so we could be better defensively but still week at right back and a loan signing doesnât do much to help us for next year especially with Boyata on his last year.
Dembele unhappy with his situation and alleging the club are going back on their word.
Iâve some sympathy for him. If thereâs a good offer in for him then we should have prepared for that situation and having a disaffected Dembele isnât going to do much for his resale value.
I canât believe the complete lack of forward planning and contingencies Celtic have in place. The market has changed completely in the last 2 years and Celtic have shown an unwillingness to move with it.
Iâd guess itâs our wages policy that is holding us back. The wages are heavily linked to CL qualification so youâre trying to get people in now on shitty wages with a chance of higher money in future. Nobody wants that.
A smaller squad of players on higher wages should be our target model.
