Celtic v Aberdeen ☘ 🐑

Brendan marching Boyata over to the Green Brigade there.

Wonderful scenes.

Rodgers is fantastic.

Celtic were excellent in the second half.

The 1-0 wins have been the most satisfying.

I see the Hearts v Rangers goals there now. Jesus that is embarrassing .

I thought Celtic were excellent in the second half tonight and should have won by more in the end. We were quite fluent early on despite playing the lesser used 3-4-2-1 system but we didn’t create too many clear cut openings. It was fairly unusual to see an opponent at this level man marking all over the pitch (and being very physical with it).

We had to be patient and it didn’t help as the first half progressed that Simunovic in the centre of the back three, and often the spare man, was having a poor game with his distribution.

We lost a bit of cohesion in the lead up to half time but got back on track immediately after it. The switch of Boyata and Simunovic worked - can’t say I’d have marked Boyata down as a commanding and ball playing centre half a few weeks ago.

Most of the threat throughout came down the left through the impressive Tierney while Forrest had quite an underwhelming game. I felt Bitton and Brown really upped it after half time too. Roberts showed some quality glimpses but he was slightly off playing Sinclair in for clear chances in each half. Lovely effort off the bar by Sinclair shortly after we scored too and Henderson had another nice cameo off the bench with a good range of passing.

Boyata was MOTM though with his strong defending and the winning goal. It was a nice touch by Rodgers to march him over to the Green Brigade section to receive the ovation at full time. He’s been much maligned and it’s encouraging to see him showing signs of turning his Celtic career around.

A series of bizarre refereeing decisions all through as is standard, especially with Celtic players taking a kicking but being penalised themselves for nipping in and toeing the ball away. At least three promising counters were halted for phantom fouls after a Celtic player won the ball cleanly and shrugged off a flailing Aberdeen player who fell to the ground.

All in all, a very satisfying win and display given the absent Rogic, Armstrong, Dembélé and Griffiths.

Has any team ever gone through the SPL unbeaten mate?

I don’t know for sure but I don’t think so, pal.

O’Neill’s 2003/04 team had the same points record at this stage but lost two games after the title was sealed.
