Massive game today. Lose it and you wouldn’t expect us to be able to bridge a 6-point gap to The Tangerines. It’s effectively a match to stay in the title race and it’s also our opening home game of the season.
Ferguson McCann is returning to Celtic Park to unveil the League Champions flag and it’s also Ronny Deila’s debut match at Celtic Park.
Charlie Mulgrew returns from suspension and I don’t think we have any additional injury concerns.
Sky Sports 3 at 12.15pm for those of you not heading along to the park.
Hmmm, Mulgrew back for Bitton not what I was hoping for. Bitton was reasonable midweek. I know @Il Bomber Destro was fairly glowing about his performance. I thought it was more mixed but I still think he suits our style more than Mulgrew. Interested to see how Berget gets on.
Bit surprised that we seem to be eschewing the 4-3-3 in the last few games, unless Berget is being asked to play in midfield. We really do lack the midfield players and the natural striker to make it work though.
Izzy with a Braafheid style back header and then another reckless and ridiculous effort at stopping Mackay Stephen. Excellent intervention from Virgil to bail him out.
We need to sign a left back to replace (or at least compete with) Izaguirre.
Noticeable that we’re trying to be progressive with our passing. Looking to move it forward sharply on the ground into pockets of space rather than square passes across them.
This is hugely impressive so far. Can see the value of Mulgrew in the midfield because the centre backs are stepping forward and he’s slotting in very comfortably to cover them. Makes it much harder for them to keep us pinned deep when our defenders are strolling forward.
