Christ that’s very disappointing.
Really poor defending for the two goals. Dominated most of the game, but you can’t afford not to have a striker - we had far too many good balls across the box with nobody near them and that wasn’t Christie’s fault. Ajeti doesn’t look fit but Klimala should have started.
Elhamed was really poor for the second goal, Frimpong was miles better in his time on the pitch. Taylor isn’t good enough I’m afraid. He had a few chances to put decent balls in with his right foot, not particularly difficult, but he doesn’t have it.
AEK Athens probably beat us fairly a couple of years ago. But Cluj, Copenhagen and Ferencvaros were all outplayed and beat us by being more clinical and making fewer mistakes.
That was shameful stuff. It was worse than Cluj last summer and Copenhagen in the Europa League last 32. To get back to 1-1 against such a limited side, a team that was spent physically, and then gift them the goal on the break was shocking. There was still time to turn it around but the response was poor. Starting a midfielder upfront with two strikers on the bench was the wrong move but it didn’t really cost us the game given Christie scored. But there were too many below par and lazy displays with brutal errors.

Elhamed is most culpable for the first goal too. Ajer was picking up some blame but he has a striker near him that he’s reluctant to leave and he goes past Elhamed to belatedly try and pressure the ball. Elhamed just strolled out, despite being the defender nearest the ball other than Brown.
Elyounoussi overran the ball when Celtic were on the attack in a promising position ahead of the second goal. It was a block tackle / punt from that situation which put yer man running one on one against Elhamed. We really leave ourselves open at home. That said, he should have made the tackle.

It’s brutal from Elhamed though. He should be cutting the ball out. Then he should be tackling earlier. Then when he does make the tackle he’s afraid of his life to make it so he just helps it along to help the finish. It’s really poor.
It’s not the keeper’s fault but it’s one of those where the striker hasn’t much a chance of scoring from the eventual angle if he had just stayed on his line. But he gets caught out by Elhamed and you can see Barkas’s frustration afterwards that he thought Elhamed was going to ease him wide.
