Celtic v Motherwell

Cha is out for Celtic with an injury.

Brown is doubtful.

Bangura and El Kaddouri are in the squad.

I think the latter will start.

Our best XI you’d expect would be:

Forster
M Wilson
K Wilson
Mulgrew
El Kaddouri
Ledley
Ki
Kayal
Commons
Stokes
Hooper

but that gives us the problem in midfield. I don’t think Commons on the right and Ledley on the left gives us enough width or balance.

I don’t think the strikers really work in anything other than a conventional pairing so that rules out the 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 variations.

I’d be leaving Commons out and starting Forrest to go with:

Much as I’ve emphatically rekindled my love affair with the national team, it’s absolutely fantastic to have Celtic back today.

Hoping for a debut goal for Bang Bang.

Pretty much agree Rocko, would like to give Ki a rest as he would most likely be very tired after his long trek home from Asia. Would move Ledley in field and start either Commons or McCourt on the left.

I think Majstorovic will start as well.

Actual team is as above but Matthews starts for Mark Wilson who is on the bench:

Forster; Matthews, K Wilson, Mulgrew, El Kaddouri; Forrest, Kayal, Ki, Ledley; Hooper & Stokes

Kayal is captain

Subs: Zaluska, Samaras, M Wilson, Bangura, Commons, Loovens & Wanyama

Motherwell XI: (4-1-4-1): Randolph; Clancy, Hutchinson, Craigan, Hammell; Hateley; Murphy, Jennings, Lasley, Law; Higdon.Hateley holding.

I never thought I’d say it but it might be important that Loovens is available again.

Beram Kayal. Beram Kayal. Beram Kayal.

1-0 Forrest

A brilliant team goal. Class football.

What link are you using? I’ve been changing a bit.

http://eplsite.org/stream3.html working well for me now but had been struggling.

Playing some lovely attacking football. Hooper nearly with a cracking overhead.

That was magnificent again. Wonderful passing move for Ledley to finish easily.

Forrest is having a cracking game.

Hooper assaulted and gets booked. FFS

This is the type of football that demolished Sion 6-0 on aggregate in the Europa League

A very good half from Celtic.

Two full backs have been hugely impressive.

Midfield four working well together. Good balance in the middle and Ledley has been more prominent than he usually is when deployed wider. Forrest has been terrific. He’s a different player on the right. Movement is excellent on and off the ball and he’s torn them apart.

Front two looking good also. Stokes has two assists and could have had a couple more.

Only negatives are the referee and one moment of hesitancy from Forster that ended with Wilson putting a panic header up in the air. Otherwise it’s very comfortable. Good football played at a good tempo.

I take it we’re playing well lads?

How has our new left back done?

I’ve latterly been on this one with friend of the forum Will Downing in commentary:

That’s been a super half. Motherwell are actually playing pretty well too - when did they learn how to pass the ball?

Forrest has been fantastic. Lovely passing moves for the goals. Great final ball by Stokes on each occasion.

The new left back has looked decent too.

That one moment summed up my frustrations with Forster. He’s got to be coming out and claiming that and roaring at Wilson to get out of his way. Needs to command the box much better.

Stokes must average a goal or assist every match he plays.

That arsehole booking Hooper after yer man hacked him down was fucking disgraceful too. :guns:
