No CCV or Yang.
Hogh back in. McGregor, Baur, Nygren in midfield. Murray at CB with Scales. Tounekti and Duran on wings.
More worrying signs re the manager. Persisting with McGregor, persisting with the same middle 3 who can’t play together is wild. What does he expect to change.
Hogh deserves to be nowhere near the staring XI. It should be Duran as starting striker and Mhueka as the alternative. He’s been selected because we spent a big fee on him.
Tounekti surprisingly gets the nod on the left. In more encouraging news, Jota returns to the bench.
Nice strike by Duran to put Celtic 1 up.
The more I see of Hogh the worse he gets. He makes Idah look like prime R9.
Scales looks miles off it.
Tounekti getting lots of the ball and has done some bright things but again it’s far from the standard needed and his touch has been so lose at times and his delivery so weak from his left foot.
Worrying signs here. Motherwell upping it and I suspect we will fold like a house of cards. Can’t keep the ball at present. Motherwell also have probably their most two dangerous players on the bench in Maswanhise and Said.
Duran outside the goal has hardly had a kick. Hassan needs to come on for Hogh at HT and move him centrally.
My word, Hogh is incredibly awful.
Awful again from Hogh. He can’t get a ball under control when there is pressure.
1-0 at HT.
Bright first 10 minutes but poor after that.
Baur probably been our best player. Tierney and Tounekti look the most likely to make things happen but for the amount of ball Tounekti has had he hasn’t real done an awful lot. Duran with a good goal but been so quiet and has hardly touched the ball - would be far more dangerous through the middle. Nygren has been tidy on the ball. McGregor made a couple of nice passes but the midfield 3 are all at sea when we lose the ball. It’s just a terrible balance with all 3 of them wanting to get ahead of the ball.
I think we look suspect defensively - primarily due to the lack of a midfield presence.
Hogh has been utter doghsit, can’t hold the ball up, can’t control it, doesn’t seem to have any pace, looks paniced anytime he has the ball in tight spaces and doesn’t seem to know what to do. Unless he’s getting cut backs of quality crosses to attack he doesn’t seem up to much. There’s an argument I think to be made at this point that he should be our 5th choice striker after:
- Duran
- Mhueka
- Osmand
- Clearie
This is his 10th appearance for us, bar the Killie game where he scored 3 tap ins and should have got another 3 he hasn’t scored a goal. In fact he is rarely even getting into goal scoring positions. The Killie game was an abberation whereby Celtic could have scored 11 or 12 as they just went kamikaze and if we put a traffic cone up front it would have scored 3. In the other 9 games he hasn’t scored. Huge question marks over how MON is still selecting him, he’s offering nothing out there and that’s probably the best thing you can say, there’s an argument to say we might actually be a better team if we were down to 10 men than 11 with him playing.
Tounekti starting second half off well. Looking more confident and decisive. A goal could do him the world of good here.
That sums up Hogh. Gets gifted a pass back from the Motherwell player that puts him 1 on 1 and he falls on his arse as he tries to trap the ball.
Donovan continues to impress
Jota replaces Tounekti who played well today.
Brilliant from Hassan. So unlucky.
This Lotomba guy is dogshit.
Could see Motherwell being in relegation trouble this season if they’re not careful. Started OK with 8 points from the first 12 but this is now their fourth defeat on the bounce. Losing 4-0 at home to Aberdeen was a big red flag. That big number 15 they have up front is some donkey.
They’re a shadow of the side they were last season. They suffocated teams last year but they look nowhere near as cohesive and well organised this time around.
Great to see Jota back. Hassan was very lively when he came on.
Baur my MOTM. Tierney also very good and Donovan and Tounketi played well.
Motherwell very poor in that second half.
