20 minutes gone - decent start from Celtic. One poor mistake from Kennedy at the back where he let a long ball in behind him having missed the header but other than that we’ve bene solid. McManus just missed a sitter to put us one up - headed wide from 6 yards completely unmarked.
Brown and Donati running the show for the last 5 or 10 minutes or so. Very encouraging and both Jan and Magic might have had brilliant chances if they’d been a bit sharper on the end of passes.
More great stuff from Brown results in a chance for McGeady which he should have scored but Bucci saved well. Then the ball broke to Zurawski ten yards out with the keeper on the ground and he pokes it wide. Bad miss but we’re playing well now.
Brown - 5 cleaned up well on overhit through balls but nearly let a nothing shot squirm through him. Looks good in general play though
Wilson - 6 reasonable crossing and attacking play but he’s given it away a few times under no pressure
Kennedy - 6 one lapse but he’s handled everything else very comfortably
McManus - 7 defended well. Should have scored with a great chance
Naylor - 6 crossing much better than last couple of weeks but one mistake in his own box where he dallied on the ball and nearly cost us
Hartley - 6 swapping around with Brown between right wing and centre. Quiet - nothing great, nothing awful
Brown - 8 yet another booking in pre-season but he was booked for getting fouled by Fernando Couto who was frustrated and Brown did nothing. Excellent running with and without the ball and encouragingly he’s teaming up very well with Donati
Donati - 8 covering back very well to pick up loose balls around the edge of the box. Using it very well
McGeady - 8 he’s probably had 10 runs at their full back and he’s beaten him cleanly 7 times. Could have had a goal as well but was a touch unlucky. Looks on form
Zurawski - 6 too quiet. Had a great chance that he missed, which is disappointing given he hasn’t done much else
Jan - 6 hasn’t had many opportunities but he’s working harder than previous weeks and he’s winning plenty in the air.
Iain Brines - 2 an embarrassment to Scottish football
Cracking break out of defence from Donati, then a lovely switched ball to Brown who flicks it back for Jan to have a crack from 25 yards but it’s deflected out for a throw-in. Great play from the two midfielders again though.
Cross from Aiden to Jan and he did very well at the back post to get a looping header back across the goal that Bucci did very well to tip over at full stretch.
Then from the corner Kennedy powered in with a header at the back post that he put wide.
1-0 Celtic from McGeady. Killen wins a header from a long throw and flicks it on to Miller whose bicycle kick is woeful but it breaks to McGeady on the volley who hammers home.
More good news is that Caldwell is on so he’s on his way back to fitness.
Brown - 6 nothing to do really
Wilson - 6 not involved much second half. Played quite well defensively
McManus - 7 bossed the defence and they didn’t get any good chances
Kennedy - 7 recovered from early error. Played the ball out of defence quite well.
Naylor - 6 gave it away a few times. Crossed well but his passing was poor. Fine defensively.
Hartley - 6 battled well but too predictable with his passes.
Donati - 8 outfought them, and outpassed them. Smashing performance. Carling MOTM
Brown - 8 great effort throughout. BIt quieter when on the wing but worked very well with Donati
McGeady - 8 My man of the match, got kicked throughout by his markers but kept skipping past them for fun. Also got into the box to get shots on goal and was rewarded with his goal.
Jan - 7 cleaned up in the air and was unlucky not to score.
Magic - 6 didn’t do enough with his chances really.
SUBS:
Miller - busy, nearly created a chance for Killen but the big Kiwi didn’t gamble
Killen - won the header for the goal
Caddis - nothing to do
Caldwell - nothing to do
