I was sure Celtic were going to lose that penalty competition as Celtic have a shit historical record in penalty competitions and theirs is excellent. I don’t even remember them losing a penalty competition before today.
Yer man Maeda is the epitome of what Irish people traditionally like in their association footballers. Limited, but game as fuck. He’s indefatigable.

There’s some love affair between Celtic and Japan. The Japanese players to borderline club legends ratio is extremely high.

Well done to all the Glasgow Celtic forumites. Your heart would go out to the gallant Teddy Bears though. What a cruel way for the spoils to be distributed after a drawn final.
Some random thoughts on that game.
After a poor first 45 minutes I thought we were quite good in the second half and in extra time. Still managed to concede two goals in that time, and a couple of chances, so it wasn’t a brilliant performance but I thought we were comfortably the better team.
Hatate really turned his game around as it went on. Once they tired he was excellent in midfield. Engels was a bit more mixed beside him but took over the energetic Bernardo role well and was part of the midfield that dominated the last portion of the game.
The commentary team were giving Raskin a lot of praise. He was strong in the first half, but was responsible for the first two goals we scored and completely ran out of steam about 55 minutes in.
Thought Scales was lucky with his shirt tug. Interesting call to bring him on at half time and he did use the ball quite positively overall.
CCV did superbly in that 4v1 break they had at the start of the second half.
That penalty save from Schmeichel was outstanding. Not one of those “nice height for a save” penalties. He did brilliantly to get down to it and claw it round the post. Also had a stunning save in the second half, but might have done better for the Danilo goal.
I liked Idah’s energy and running. He was a big part of us playing further up the pitch for the last hour or so.
Maeda took his goal brilliantly. And then great nerve on his penalty. Not the first lad you’d think of to strike a penalty but he seems nerveless in fairness.

Surely a bad sign for rangers when Butland steps up to take one?
Hart took one for Celtic last year so I’m not reading much into it. Dessers getting a lot of criticism for not taking one. He lacks confidence anyway.
