So far he has beaten hamish a few times, with a huge bendy budget, and beaten a tired demoralised rabble of a celtic team under management who are the epitome of mediocre.
He’s overseen solid European progression too. Celtic and Rangers are two of the best performing sides in European competition this season. Both of them must have close to 10 wins already, if not more? That coach chap (Michael Beale?) who got sent off late on the other day seems to be a good operator. Yer man Gary McAllister is a quarter wit. I’d say he has access to Klopp and other Liverpool staff too given the links between the clubs.
at the relative beginning of their tenure tho… and id imagine he had an entirely different mandate at the time as it was an american ownership coming in and locals were sceptical with the glazers accross the motorway
the fired him evantaully tho iirc- was it their worst league finish in years and failed to qualify for CL
agreed - he’s done well
both glasgow clubs occupy a symbiotic type of relationship really and are entirely dependent on each other for relevance-- shur arent you enjoying the heady days of a high coefficent now?
i know - he can only work with what he has tho in fairness and beat whatever is laid out in front of him
ok - flesh that one out a bit for me there - but whatever the circumstances the purpose of a buyout clause im assuming is to make him and his agent extremely wealth - so be it man yoo or Guangzhou R and F who sign him next the bottom line is that he is loaded before kicking a ball and that is all that mattters in the world of professional sport
Great post.
Professional Sports is entertainment ‘business’. This is why the NFL is the greatest show on turf… They embraced this concept long ago. Soccer fans have yet to catch up to the facts . They are pawned off with the usual tribal nonsense of yesteryear that even has Irish fans of these franchise saying ‘us’ and ‘we’ … You’ve lads here staying up till 4 am watching Man Utd playing in the US in pre season and then glued to their academy teams during the regular season because it’s part of their identity.
Dont get me wrong, I get invested in teams as much as anyone when they’re playing, but ffs it’s not real and once it’s over it’s only a bit of ball hopping to fill a few minutes away from the wife.
I barely watched the CL final last year — got far more joy from the QFs/ Semi Finals as they provide far more drama and with home/ away crowds – this eclipses the bullshit corporate final.
But there’s too much money at the top and you’ve games broadcast nearly every night of the week - the money men are getting richer while your average fan is being priced out of the game … Look at the bastard upcoming Euros, spread out all over europe - fucking fans right up the shitter.
Football is a product and a soap opera to follow for most of us… lads with lesser IQs get carried away with tattoos of ‘their’ teams and screaming about justice for the 96 etc.
Footix in realising his football experience is shallow shock
Gas seeing lads ranting about professional sports being money focused as though they’ve just discovered the fourth secret of Fatima.
And then worse again is the lads yahooing away when someone suggests that the big clubs are almost like big global corporations.
Nerves have been touched here… few lads with tattoos not happy.
For most clubs the only link to their cities is the stadium location. Pretty much every player and the coaching staff are foreign for clubs like Liverpool and Man City.
When you say most clubs I assume you mean the few huge super clubs in France England Germany Italy and Spain that the footix follow
The only super clubs are Barcelona, Madrid, PSG and Man Utd. Calm down sugar tits.
Bayer aren’t a super club
True there’s few exceptions like man united but most of them are a joke.
He’s comparing Liverpool to Barcelona Barcelona have a famed youth academy.
In a German context yes … Globally, there’s 4 clubs that are way out in front of the others commercially.
PSG are way ahead of Bayern and Juventus commercially?
