Thought it was an odd substitution by Rodgers to go 4-4-2 and make the last 15 minutes so open. Very poor display but we’re forewarned for the cup semi final now.

Agreed. Didn’t mind having Griffiths and Dembele together even if we still had Bitton but McGregor and Brown were too exposed because they both chase the ball a bit. McGregor actually played well enough I thought but it looked like a switch we had planned from before the game and it wasn’t appropriate.
We were struggling to get much out of Sinclair and Roberts anyway so it left us very exposed and not all that more of an attacking threat.
But I think they’d have pushed on anyway and we really struggled to keep the ball which wasn’t much to do with our formation. Too many below par performances - Gordon was comfortably our best player.
From the Rodgers post match interview - Armstrong was injured and had to come off. So it was enforced. I guess we were unlikely to play Eboue so that makes more sense.
I guessed he was injured as it made no sense to take him off but I still didn’t think going 2 upfront was the best way to see out the game. We could have played Gamboa on the right hand side of midfield or something if he thought it was too early for Eboue to sample a derby.
Is Izaguiree gone from the squad altogether now?
Tierney has taken his place back since returning to fitness in January. He’s been on the bench in a share of games since but missed out today. Depends what mix Rodgers wants on the bench.

Bhoys, I’ve just skimmed through the game again. We were shite.
Our defending for their goal was brutal. The freekick was crossed to the back post into a crowd and we cleared it diagonally back to where it came from. Most of our players stayed over towards the far stick even though a couple of their men shuffled back across towards the near post into space.
Conversely Callum McGregor made a really terrible decision to drift way, way across and beyond two of these Sevconians at the edge of the box. There was a huge gap then between the hapless Sviatchenko and McGregor and Tavernier had an easy task to nudge the ball to one of those two previously mentioned unmarked team-mates. Yer man Hyndman received it in acres with McGregor a few yards outside him in no man’s land.
Our organisation at the back and defensive line were really bad at times.

Dembélé had 12 goals in his last 6 games before today and had 5 goals in the 3 previous games against them. He doesn’t deserve to be dropped after one below par display in a team full of them.
I think we again saw a couple of areas where we need upgrades for next season. Sviatchenko was brutal and Bitton was weak before being substituted (albeit possibly injured). Hopefully Eboue can slot into midfield but we probably need to sign a centre back. Lustig’s best days look to be behind him too.
Our pitch is shocking but our passing game was terrible today. Very few crisp link ups and lots of strangely subdued individual performances. Going 4-4-2 when Armstrong was injured only served to make the closing stages unnecessarily open when we could have retained control and picked them off.
The refereeing was naturally scandalous but it should serve to steel and forewarn Celtic ahead of the cup semi final. That said, it must be difficult to award a last minute penalty against the club you support no matter how blatant the offence. Giving the Holt scissors kick the all clear was about as absurd a refereeing decision as I’ve ever witnessed.
