Not even on the bench.
Bizarre , he’s a real livewire . Is there a buy option ?
A bad day for Rodgers with him and Trusty being so prominent
He was a permanent summer signing.
I think the Trusty thing is overstated. I think he was only just back last weekend so started on the bench. Should probably have come on but Rodgers did play him a fair bit.
Osmand was a strange one. He didn’t actually look great in the two pre season games I saw from him but he was very energetic and with our lack of strikers it was odd to have him nowhere near the team.
I’m not sure if Celtic would have won today under the rat but I’m pretty sure that under MO’N and Maloney Celtic would have beaten Almaty and we would now be in the Champions League.
I don’t think he’d played a professional game before this season. He scored loads for Fulham in that PL 2 or whatever it’s called. Is it an U23 or reserve league? He has pace & quick instincts around the box - very promising signs & traits the team needs.
Still something missing from Celtic midfield . They totally lose shape and their foothold for long periods of games .
I thought they were awful. Don’t have players of the guile of Raskin or Mikey Moore.
Yeah. We’ve been better the last two games but more by just playing quickly through midfield and not trying to control the game there. Hatate did well enough when he came on but I thought we missed Nygren a bit from that point. He was staying central but getting on the ball and allowing us to get forward.
Engels was from man of the match but definitely more disciplined the last couple of games and he’s been much better for it. At least we have more bodies battling for breaks and he still got through a lot of running forward. Another player who I presumed didn’t have stamina a couple of weeks ago but he ran for 120 mins today.
I think “Fozzy” worked with him at Fulham and has probably been close to Maloney in that parthways role too so they’ve probably identified him as someone who deserved a chance.
Yeah I think that happened regularly going back to Rodgers & even Ange too when Celtic were playing better sides. I don’t think it’s something that’s going to change under Martin O’Neill. Safe possession to take the sting out of games isn’t something I’d associate with his sides. I think there’s been some naïveté at times over the years - you’d have both full backs pushed on, midfielders driving into the box, leaving the midfield empty other than McGregor & the centre backs two v two. That said, I’m happy if the balance has tilted to Celtic going after teams with some freedom even if the control isn’t fully there, especially at domestic level. Proper, front foot stuff.
Scales is best celtic centre half since billy mcneil
In fairness scales is an excellent defender at SPL level and was excellent today. He’s a row X kind though.
Tavernier is some whinger. Rohl came across worryingly well.
Every game Scales plays he reminds me of Paul McShane against the Czech Republic.
He’s the classic “you can’t question his attitude and his effort” player.
“You can’t question his attitude and his effort” is a nice way of saying you can question his skill.
Himself, Paul McShane and an Irish Wolfhound have never been seen in the same room together.
I don’t think they’re that similar at all. Scales is very strong in the air. McShane was a borderline competent battler but would never make the kind of recovery tackle Scales made today either.
One week ago it would have been crazy to think of beating the Huns at Hampden under Martin O’Neill with Callum Osmand scoring the third. An absolutely crazy week.
Agreed . I would say scales is a tad too laid back and mcshane just tore bull headed into everything
You’d fear Johnny Kenny’s first half performance was lost with Osmonds showing . Amazing what energetic strikers can bring to a team instead of the likes of ineancho strolling round the place
Most of these guys have probably never played under someone like O’Neill. Would be fantastic if they reeled in Hearts and he sailed off into the sunset in May.
He has fantastic presence on the line. The tracksuit is iconic. Plenty of pubs in Glasgow will have that photo of him on the line today up in the future. He really is the last of that school. The young managers now are all nerds and weirdos and failed players.
