Celtic v Sevco ☘

Maeda in for Forrest.

I know the display was good on Wednesday & it was a lift after the sterile stuff this season…but I still get irked at the lack of quality & options when I read these team announcements. Injuries aside, the scale of the mess at Celtic is pretty big. O’Neill simplified things the other night - it was more of a 4411 with Engels beside McGregor & Nygren close to Kenny as a second striker almost. Less possession for possession sake in Celtic’s own half between centre backs & McGregor. More of an urgency to get forward & a mix of short & long passing, & more crossing too.

The huns seem to be gone 352 today & I think they’ve used that in the last two league games. I haven’t seen them yet under Rohl but the jocko pundit types say they already look more structured & organised without the ball at least. It’s been a little embarrassing how Raskin & Diomande physically got the better of Celtic in some recent games. Spoiling, disrupting & leaving the foot in. I dunno if Celtic going more direct might actually work better against the huns. It was like they were happy to cede possession to Celtic last season but would then pounce on sloppy passes & break.

Hard to know what to expect really. You could have Celtic outnumbered in centre midfield & the huns having more of the ball in a role reversal. Interesting that Kenny’s retained, even with Maeda back in the starting line up. Maeda could spend time on each flank & upfront.

Yeah I think we’ll definitely try and play quicker and get our front 3 stretching them and forcing the wing backs back or exploiting space behind.

Midfield battle will still be very important and we’ll need to be much stronger in there than we have been in recent games against the Huns.

Slightly concerned we’ll have a disorganised press too. It’s not really a MON tactic but Maeda will probably persist with his press and Kenny a bit too but it’s a lot of pointless running if we are just sitting deep behind. Hopefully we’ve mastered a half press type thing in the few days this week.

Yeah a few worrying signs midweek where a couple of passes left Falkirk breaking 5 v 5 into Celtic’s half because of some pressing miscommunication. You’d think the huns would be better able to exploit that but we shouldn’t be bigging them up either I guess. They clearly have their own issues.

If tavernier is playing they need to put Maeda around him. He’s tormented him in the past.

How much did they pay for tounekti?
That’s remarkable not to hit the target.

Ooooowwwwwnnnnnn ggggooooaaaalllllll

Or did it bounce off Nyyyyygggggrrrreeeennnn?

Nnnyyygggrrreennnnnnnn?

They’re going to chalk it off, the cunts.

That’s a mad decision . Celtic need a goal here for all their dominance

Martin O’Neill looks incredibly beautiful prancing around that sideline.

I had a listen to the Second Captains podcast interviewing Martin O’Neill last week. He’s an incredibly funny man and has a mean line in self deprecating yet deeply self confident humour. He has the timing of a stand up comedian.

That’s a beautiful tackle by Cornelius on Kenny. Kenny deserved that for dawdling.

Keeeeeeeennnnnnnyyyyyyyyyy

Kkkkeeennnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Good header, great corner, keeper should have saved it.

As good a corner as youll ever see

Kenny deserves that . While not the finished article he’s made himself available for every pass thus far, great energy to him

Kenny is putting himself in the Ireland starting picture here.

Celtic are going to win this match and Martin O’Neill will remain in charge at least until the end of the season. Probably not beyond that.

Tounetki needs to get up to the pace of this

Red card for the hun.
