Celtic v St Mirren

A full debut for Johansen today but Griffiths wasn’t registered by the 5pm Friday deadline so he isn’t in the squad.

Celtic are going for a successive clean sheet club record or something today. They keep going on about it on the twitter feed and club website anyway.

Don’t think Stokes deserves to come back into the team today actually.

Forster,
Fisher, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Izaguirre,
Forrest, Brown, Johansen, Mulgrew,
Commons, Stokes.

Subs: Zaluska, Biton, Samaras, Boerrigter, Balde, Pukki, O’Connell.

John McGinn with a great chance straight from kick-off. Drags it wide.

Perennial first goalscorer Kris Commons with the goal. 1-0 Celtic.

Izzy came inside and flicked the ball forward to Commons. He received the ball around 25 yards out in front of the centre backs and rifled a low shot that went through Kello’s hands. Struck it well but a keeping error.

HT: Celtic 1-0 St Mirren.

Good performance by Celtic but haven’t added to the early Commons goal. Johansen is having a decent full debut - nice nutmeg and shot and some other quick forward passes for attackers to run onto. Forrest forced Kello into a good save from one of them. Stokes was narrowly wide after a swift counter just before half time and Brown should have scored before that after Commons dummied a Mulgrew cut back but the captain blazed over. Celtic have also been a little careless with the final pass on a few occasions after getting into promising positions.

My link is now gone, however.

How has McGinn played, pal?

McGinn has been busy without doing anything of note. Lively and energetic though and trying to get forward to support the lone striker.

Original link working again. A few early second half chances for Celtic already.

They’ve gone with two upfront and are having a better spell. Forster just made a decent save.

Johansen and Forrest have gone close. It isn’t really happening for Stokes again unfortunately.

Mulgrew narrowly over. Everyone nervously hoping Forster claims this prestigious clean sheet record.

Boerrigter about to come on.

Boerrigter for Forrest.

Get Balde on.

Tom Boyd on Celtic TV says that Steven Thompson rightly got booed as he was being substituted due to his link with “our former city rivals”.

He definitely deserves to be brought on.

Johansen continues to be tidy on the ball and busy too. Making lots of forward breaks off the ball.

Balde being readied. He has a better goals per minute ratio than Ronaldo this season.

Balde for Commons.

Decent effort from Balde there.

Balde shrugs off a defender and drills narrowly wide from 20 yards.

Not sure what to make of Boerrigter.

Crowd not happy with Stokes here. Intercepts short back pass, runs in on goal, has player beside him but goes wide around keeper himself and blazes high and wide from an angle.
