Celtic v Stjarnan (and vice-versa)

We had that issue last season. Canā€™t understand it, should be clear and not up for debate.

Wasnā€™t as good a shot on second viewing.

Boyata going off injured and Ambrose coming on.

Johansenā€™s shot from point blank range is saved really well.

Another lovely pass by Armstrong. He set up the second goal and he played in Johansen for the penalty too.

2-0 isnā€™t a great result. Obviously we could and should have won by more. The missed penalty is the obvious example but we had a shed load of half chances and some really good ones for Johansen, Armstrong and Forrest. 3-0 or 4-0 would have been fairer.

They did have their couple of half chances that might have made it all much worse though. Donā€™t think they deserved to get anything from the game, and they werenā€™t really much of an attacking threat, but if either of those had gone in weā€™d have a much tougher task ahead of us next to Icelandā€™s only IKEA store next week.

Youā€™re very cautious, @Rocko. We should beat them comfortably next week too. A half hearted Ronny Roar there.

Rockoā€™s official ratings:

Gordon 5: nothing to do
Lustig 7: good going forward
Boyata 7: impressively composed and an early goal
Mulgrew 5: dived in a couple of times poorly
Izaguirre 5: wasteful and indecisive
Brown 7: usual driving force
Bitton 7: usual composed self
Armstrong 7.5: quiet first half, excellent second half, really improved as it went on. Should have scored though
Johansen 8: couple of sloppy early passes then got a grip of the game and was involved in everything good we did
Forrest 6: not really involved enough and should have taken his chance.
Ciftci 7: couple of half chances. Held it up well and linked well. Looks the part
Stokes - better than Forrest
Griffiths - should have scored obviously
Ambrose - booked

Ronny has confirmed that Griffiths was the designated penalty taker. Johansen was excellent tonight but we could do without that class of tomfoolery over penalties.

Ciftci ahead of Griffiths again. Thought weā€™d change that. GMS back for Forrest which is a big upgrade. Mulgrew at left back. Is Izzy injured?

Gordon;
Lustig, Boyata, van Dijk, Mulgrew;
Brown, Bitton;
Mackay-Steven, Johansen, Armstrong;
Ciftci.

Izzy is on the bench.

Subs: Izaguirre, Ambrose, Griffiths, Stokes, Rogic, Forrest, Bailly

Izzy was diabolical last week and weā€™re meant to be close to signing the St Pauli left back. Perhaps giving Ciftci games as heā€™s suspended domestically.

I fully support all the decisions. Agree with Izzy being dropped - heā€™s been poor all pre-season too. Ciftci looks decent but wouldnā€™t be taking any chances to be using European games to get him fit. I think heā€™s just seen as a more suitable player for European games with his ability to hold the ball up.

That ball looks like it would be about 9.99 in a Lifestyle sports.

Fuckā€™s sake. 1-0.

Weā€™ve had all the ball until now. Harmless looking attack from a kick out down our right. Lustig caught ahead of the ball. Boyata sucked too wide and Virgil over to cover him and a huge gap in the middle.

Boyata strolled back there when the ball went behind him. Not good.

Celtic ā€œgoalā€ disallowed for offside. Free kick routine for a Johansen strike which he didnā€™t get hold of. Boyata well offside before he tapped home the rebound. This is a very disjointed performance.
