Did he say anything about Barton, m8?
No, pal.
That was the most comfortable Glasgow derby win for Celtic since the 6-0 League Cup victory over Partick Thistle a couple of years ago.
As mentioned at half time, there was no need to panic despite them pulling the goal back. Their old and slow players (in particular Senderos and Barton) continued to be bombscares and Celtic exposed them further in the second half.
Iām still quite disappointed that we didnāt sign a really good centre midfield player to provide an alternative to Brown and Bitton. Weāve got the likes of McGregor and Armstrong as squad/back up options but I think we require someone to really kick on. Iām not sure the mix is quite right with those two and Rogic in front as the advanced player in the three.
Our back four was solid though and we look more secure with Toure and Sviatchenko as the centre back partnership. I need to see more of De Vries but Iām unconvinced that heās a better option than the admittedly off form Gordon. De Vries seems to stay on his line a lot and doesnāt seem too commanding.
Dembele did excellently and they were three brilliant finishes. Great to come in for Griffiths and perform like that.
Sevco supporters didnāt find the bathrooms to their liking on their first ever visit to Celtic Park.
Did Andy Fordham get stuck in the cubicle?
Had to watch that on a slight delay for private personal reasons so apologies for not updating here throughout the game.
Gas seeing @Nembo_Kid chastising Dembele after a few minutes - āheās not a natural finisher.ā Even the best donāt get it right all the time.
Anyway that was tremendously enjoyable. We played really well, the pressing was very good, the bullying was great, the finishing was really good, not sure anyone played badly. And it was rather amusing how shit they were.
I particularly liked how they had pretend hard men who turned into cowards, particularly Joe Garner who was diving and exaggerating every piece of contact. What a whiny cunt who looks so easy to wind up, will be glad to see more of him against us.
Thought both of Senderosā cards should have been straight reds. He looks calamitous anyway. But Barton and Kranjcar were funniest of all. We seem to have identified Barton in particular in our plans because we hounded him when he got on the ball and he just gave it away repeatedly. Heās nowhere near good enough.
Dembele was excellent obviously but Sinclair was really good, full backs played well, Toure looked calm, Sviatchenko hadnāt as much to do. Rogic started really well but maybe travel was catching up with him. Bitton used the ball well but had to be careful with the early yellow.
Actually thought Armstrong did well too. His movement for his goal was really good and he made a few good runs. I wasnāt too fussed whether he stayed or not but Rodgers obviously sees something in him and he looked like a natural enough #10 today, albeit against a ragged team.
And some lovely moments in the post match interview:
āHow was the matchup against Joey Barton, Scott? Was that a tough battleā
āEasyā¦ It was men against boys stuff at the end.ā
āBrendan, Leigh who?ā
āSorry?ā
āLeigh Griffiths missing outā¦ and thenā¦ā
āDonāt be disrespectful.ā
āSorry, I just meantā¦ā
āDonāt be disrespectful.ā
Oh and Lustig celebrating the second goal with a beach ball on his head was smashing.
I never said he wasnāt a natural finisher mate but I think his game is more about holding the ball up and running the channels. We had plenty of dominance in the opening half hour but we didnāt have anyone in the penalty area who was on hand to put the ball away.
Dembele had a great game but I still donāt feel heās a natural goalscorer.
Natural goalscorer, natural finisher - think youāre being a bit pedantic there. Anyway itās not a day for bickering.
You can be a good finisher but lack the instincts and traits of a goalscorer.
Thereās nothing pedantic about that.
Oh guys please donāt fall out
Every one of Sky Sports football pundits/presenters/commentators/co commentators/post match interviewers are utter cunts, be it England, Scotland, Spain etc
Their coverage is awful compared to BT Sport.
+1. Iāll allow both of them one more (respectful) post on the specific point but no more.
Rod is a great man for Old Firm and Euro nights .
