Census of Ireland 1911

I’ve always been interested in history and the like and I found this over the weekend, the census of 1911 is fully available online, stellar work by the National Archives in fairness.

Interesting looking up the family names from ones own local area to see who is still around.

For the record Rocko, my great-grandparents were in the house your in-laws bought, I’m still determined to bring it back in to the Tinnion name.

You’ll never get that back Tinnion.

Dublin has been online for ages, they just made the rest of the country available reecntly enough. Previous one should be online next year.

My grandmother’s on it bless her, still alive and everything*. Can go fairly far back on it I’ve a few great-great grandparents still alive at that time.

Is Boxtyeater on this census?

If you’re interested Griffiths Valaution gives info from 1856

Had been on that one before Padjo, interesting stuff again.

cool stuff there alright. the family name hasnt moved too far for me anyway, surname search brought up my grandfathers homeplace on the first page of results.

some cool pictures in it too. the Kerry lads teaching how to play football.

The Marquis of Ely was some coont I’d say…

seemingly so alright! but sure we must have bet the cunt back home anyways!

Found 2 sets of great grand parents.
My grandfather is there too.
I didn’t know that his mother had the same first name as my mother.

Also, that family had 2 servants…

Hadn’t seen that before. Quality.

Mad that, two sets of my great grandparents had servants.

One seems to have been a single mother.

Shame that they’re no-one left to ask details about them.

Ha!, yeah maybe wrong choice of words, but still thinks it’s a great picture!

There’s some more good stuff here: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/ if you’re willing to shell out around €10.

There is a list of Tithe Defaulters from around 1831 on it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tithe_war, I’m proud to say my ancestors refused to pay up!

My money is on hannibal and cluaindiuic’s relatives not being on it with their fancy servants!

That’s fooking Steve Staunton on the left there!!!

Great to see we’d the most windows in the townland and had either a slate, iron or tiled roof. Three rooms aswell. Sweet.

anyone here know of any decent online or public place to search for more historical census type records? am looking back into family history and trying to go back as far as I can with it. am tracing the name so far back to the late 1700’s, but trying to link the family members and where they came from.
