Champions League 2022/23 Matchday One (its a grand old team to play for)

Pogba is out though isn’t he?

They should be. Theyve been on the road a ehile though, mostly the same squad. I’d say brazil and Argentina will both be savage. It’ll be boiling so i thi k therell be a load of shit, slow tempo keep ball and occasional bursts. That’ll suit brazil.

Hard to believe brazils starting midfield was on the subs for man united today.

The stadiums are air conditioned aren’t they?

I doubt you can really air condition an entire stadium really. Im sure itll still be roasting.

Supposed to be state of the art juhy

Seems mental. This is the most disgusting, pointless waste of money i can think of.*

  • with the exception of united spending 80 million on maguire.

Valid point

The temperature isn’t mental there in november and december anyway. I don’t think the weather will impact the tournament.

I might have a small punt on mexico

Kyogo looking good for tomorrow based on him training there on the Sky Sports News live footage.

Would you believe I diagnosed it as a stinger (cc rubby friends) when watching it with my sons on Saturday? I expected him to be okay. Any word on Starfelt?

As an aside, I’m a big fan of Giakoumakis and think he did a fine job when he came on.

Watched Ange’s press conference earlier & all the jocko media types kept asking the same couple of questions in different ways. Is there a risk you’ll get exposed if you play your normal style? Yes, but that’s what we’ll be doing and if it doesn’t work then we’ll go back and work on it to be better the next time. You don’t develop principles and a way of playing just to go back into your shell and shelve it when you come up against a good side. And then all the expectation guff like above, which Ange neatly answered.

It’s good to be excited about it. I’m excited. There hasn’t been a buzz like this since the first CL campaign under Rodgers when there was the 3-3 game with Manchester City first up in the group stages. Although my highlight from that campaign was overturning the first leg deficit in the first qualification round against Lincoln Red Imps (cc @mikehunt). 2017-18 was more of a damp squib when we drew PSG and Bayern and didn’t have a sniff of getting out of the group.

Actually maybe we should camp out on the edge of our box.

Didn’t we lose narrowly 7-0 away to Barcelona before that 3-3 thriller? Or am I getting my campaigns mixed up?

saw a good reply on twitter to this

This is what Brendan Rogers thinks he sounds like every time he opens his mouth
