Champions League 2024/2025

Hes a tad overrated but is a savage athlete and tbf he did give mbappe some lovely passes in the first half… I saw him in the flesh for Madrid and he was a physical specimen compared to everyone else on the pitch

It’s ok Brian… you can enjoy a long overdue spectacular performance… worry about next week, next week

Arsenals first goal direct from a free kick in 4 years :flushed:

Whos been taking them, Odergaard? Or has Rice always been taking them and just missing them or hitting the wall? Could this be the modern day Roberto Carlos? Hits a famous free kick and spends the rest of his career trying to replicate it?

Id so here for how Arsenal are finishing the season. They know there’s no hope in the league so they’ve just not bothered with it and are letting Liverpool have their wobble in peace. It’s hoovered all the good out of their title and Liverpool will probably end up sealing the title with a home 1-1 draw with some no marks like Wolves or Spurs.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are duking it out with European royalty in the big cup.

And they want to add Trent![quote=“neilld, post:2034, topic:39114, full:true”]

You’ve MBappe, Rodrygo, Modric, Vini and Bellingham that all don’t relish the defensive aspect of the game to a very high degree. Its unbalanced.

Rice replicated his cracker 15 minutes later. Carlos spent 15 years driving balls into the wall or the stand or out onto the carpark.
Roberto’s effort was a gift from God - Rice is God……Coat time….

That will for sure devastate all Liverpool supporters.

One of the most traumatic moments of my childhood was how Liverpool clinched the league in 1984 with a bore 0-0 draw away to relegated Notts County.

I’ve never really recovered from that.

I was never particularly a fan of Arsenal but I have just seen Ricey’s two free kicks. You have to admire that in such a big match. Incredible efforts.

If the patrons of the Green Rooster/Cusacks knew you were woofting on about Ricey you’d never be taken seriously again….

James McClean was a fairly clueless pundit on the Euros coverage last summer but that was highlighted even further last night by Declan Rice’s performance. It’s a terrible pity that we lost him to England because he’d solve a lot of our issues.

The Irish roots of Rice came through strongly in his interviews last night as well, a far more likeable character than your average English footballer. Grealish is the same.

I was always a great judge of a player.

This could actually be accurate yet.

I couldn’t understand the damaged limitations talk around Arsenal. On Newstalks sports bulletin yesterday morning they were talking as if it was a foregone conclusion. People never seem to learn that you don’t need to be the best or most in form team in Europe to win it out. Arsenal are a superior side currently to Liverpool 2005 or Chelsea 2012.

It’s unreal. 13th and 14th in the Premier League table heading into Europa League quarter-finals this week. It’s easier to succeed on the continent than in the domestic league for the English teams at this stage.

Is it possible they’ve gotten easy runs in Europe allied to the fact that they’ve hardly tried a leg in their domestic competition?

Yeah true, the longer the season goes on it becomes clear liverpool were the only ones taking the league seriously.

Yanited have beaten Dynamo Tractor and Spartak Shitheap. They’ve more than earned their quarter-final spot.
