Champions League 2024/2025

I don’t think Darwin has been a terrible buy. He generally gives his all, has scored some important goals, and always gives the opposition a problem one way or another.

Arteta could buy Darwin in the summer

Astute observers of Football realise how close Darwin is to be a true phenom.

How many Uruguayans have won the top league in Europe ?

Forlan surely has one

That’s all I could think of. Did Poyet win one at Chelsea or was he long gone before the financial doping ?

A brutalist paradise. I recall the World Cup '90 sticker album and the Panini album for the same World Cup and being awe struck at how they were expanding it. It looked like the future. It still does. The vastness. The towers with the sinister looking windows, like watchtowers in a dystopian gulag, the windows make them look like daleks, The ramps which look like giant springs, the beautiful clean lines, the contrast between dark and light. When people are going down them, they look like they’re revolving.

They made one serious mistake with the redvelopment. They cut away the front six or seven rows behind each goal. It looks shit, like Champions League matches at Old Trafford used to look shit when the first three or four rows were left uninhabited in the 1990s because of the height of the advertising hoardings. If you look at the AC Milan v Real Madrid semi-final of 1989, the seats come right down to the pitch.

Seven of the Arsenal squad tonight came through their academy, including some Irish fella that has recently played for Sligo. A proper club.

PSG have done more in 4 minutes than Real did in 180.

Welcome to the big boys club now Arsenal. Reals current outfit arent even a shadow of their previous incarnations

Something iconic about the natural late April light shining down on a stadium for a CL semi final. Most of the tournament is played in the darkness of night. But when it comes to the biggest games late on, the light is pouring in for the CL anthem.

There’s something absolutely deadly about it.

And the World Snooker Championship going on at the same time.
