Ok big ron take it easy
Has he a trusty left foot?
Amorim will rock up to his first Manc derby thinking it’s a piece of piss.
That was a wonderful preview mate, worthy of a Junior club stick stick game in Limerick
What a magnificent competition this year. All the greats going at it hammer and tongs
They’re not though, that’s what makes it interesting . Someone is going to get caught by the draw
Pace and power has been Rodgers’ mantra any time he’s given extended interviews with the press or broadcast media when discussing the Champions League. He consistently said that’s what we needed, if we wanted to compete with the best at this level, & that’s what we targeted in the last transfer window. Celtic got it all wrong in the transfer window the year before in his first season back but promising signs more recently. Trusty & Engels have it, even if the latter was a little bit mixed tonight. Even Idah has it & the wide players have real pace too. It was brilliant that they ultimately ran RB Leipzig into the ground tonight. I know they lost their right back after around 82/83 minutes & they’d used all their subs but they were spent before that & Celtic saw that out incredibly comfortably. It’s a savage result & performance when you consider the disparity in financial resources between the clubs.
30 goals scored tonight
Is he the new United manager???
Engels has serious potential but has lapses in concentration, epically defensively. Idah has ability but his body language is terrible
Thank you pal. I was delighted with myself when I came up with the line that Kuhn should trouble them as Red Bull give you the wings.
I kinda know what you mean re Idah but I think sometimes his gait or whatever gets mistaken for laziness. He maybe lacks a tiny bit of game intelligence too so he can be slightly slow to react in some situations & that looks like he’s not working hard enough. One thing Rodgers is definitely good at is developing players so hopefully he’ll keep improving & get better at anticipating things & making the right movements at the right times.
Big thing from tonight’s result is hopefully Celtic will be going to Zagreb not needing much after beating the Belgians at home before it
We’ll need to win over there or in Birmingham to secure the top 8 spot.
CCV is only coming back from injury but I think he’s our third best centre back on current form. It was an easier game to come into when Scales came on but I thought he was really strong and decisive. CCV is lacking a little of that at the moment. But Trusty was outstanding tonight, sweeping behind and he showed terrific strength.
Infind it hard to pick between Hatate and McGregor tonight. McGregor took great responsibility in the second half but Hatate when he’s on form is a gorgeous footballer. He was brilliant tonight. And still wasn’t man of the match.
I still think you need more of a physical presence in there against the really big teams . The two lads together are too light
Hatate’s nutmeg & through ball in the second half was sublime. His no look pass for the second goal was outstanding too. I agreed with Joe Hart when he said you have to accept his odd slack piece of play because he’s brilliant when he’s on it & can open teams up.
Has @Jake_Stevens apologised to Rodgers yet?
He’s also an important part of our defensive shape. He wouldn’t naturally be the one you’d expect to push forward with Kyogo because he doesn’t have recovery pace but I think his intelligence is trusted there to know when to trigger the press and then Maeda comes in from the outside.
Taylor is another who gets caught out a bit and you think he’s slack but in fairness he’s another who covers inside and shows for possession there (which is why he was picked tonight). He got caught out with a ball over the top late ish in the first half. But didn’t hesitate in pushing right up to win the ball back in injury time when we got them turned. He makes mistakes but he plays that role really well most of the time.
Was he wearing the Poppy?
Oh that was a real giveaway by Villa.
