No Real Madrid would be considered a much better team than liverpool these days. They are the current European champions and have possibly the most expensive squad ever assembled. I’d say they’ll be clear favourites to beat liverpool both times they play.
Its all about what happens on the field. Read Madrid were favourites going into the 1981 Final and the 2009 Round of 16 meetings as well. The lessons from history should never be ignored.

Liverpool will need to tread warily in Bulgaria. After disposing of Real Madrid in the 1981 final, Liverpool lost their European title in Bulgaria in 1982 when they were eliminated by CSKA Sofia.
