Champions League Matchday 4

It’s still doable for Arsenal.

Next round of fixtures sees Arsenal at home to Zagreb with Olympiakos going to Munich.

All things being equal, you’d expect the results should mean it goes to the final game in Greece, and then it’s all on the night.

Arsenal have gone to more difficult places than Olympiakos in the past needing a 2-0 win and done the business.

When?

I’m sure it happened once, I’m fucked if I can remember who the venue and opposition were though.

They won away to Inter 3-0 or something in about 2002. They’d lost their first 3 games, I think, and that was the last game.

2003/04. Beat Inter 5-1 away in the fifth match after losing the first two matches. Qualified comfortably enough, if I remember correctly.

What a game, performance & result.

Newcastle the only english team to lose opening two games and qualify I believe.

Correction. Wikipedia says they drew their second match. Took only 1 point from the first 9 though.

Interestingly enough they lost their third group game as well.

All is now clear. Mourinho wants the CL to cement his legacy. All he needs to do is sign John Stones in January and play him alongside Gary Cahill.
