Fuck that. Awful result. Don’t think it reflected the balance of play. Scoreboard journalism will mean everyone will get slaughtered but they were dreadful goals to concede and didn’t reflect a reasonably even game.
Would need to see the first two goals again to see who switched off. Forster was rotten for their third, could have been helped but he knocked that home from 7 yards after the ball had travelled 40 yards or so. Forster repeatedly fails to address that part of his game.
In general play I thought all the back 4 were fine. Kaka’s movement caused some problems but they coped fairly well. Ambrose was our best creative outlet today.
Mulgrew was an absolute shambles in the middle. Slow and predictable passing and slow and predictable dribbling. Kayal and Ledley were better without being great.
Forreat was anonymous until we were 3 down. Boerrigter linked well with Izzy. Commons was pure brutal. Sammy won his fair share of balls and caused them problems but we lacked a striker. Stokes hasn’t been in form and didn’t look sharp when be came on.
Everything was destroyed by the set pieces though. We were really vulnerable to Aberdeen at the weekend and that continued tonight. Getting outjumped or out muscled would be disappointing. Unchallenged players was really dreadful.
Oh and Commons played far too advanced. We were outnumbered on midfield as a result and our passing there became way too lateral and we had no movement. We can barely accommodate one non goalscoring centre forward. Two non goalscoring centre forwards made our task impossible.

Bernd Leno is an absolutely shocking goalkeeper. I have seen live about five times now and he has thrown about 10 goals into his net in those games.

Kagawa appears to be playing down the middle and has been pretty bright and involved in anything good from United. Who would’ve thought that playing a player in their best position would see an improved performance.
