Champions League Matchday 6

i thought Dean would refer to the conditions in the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham in Ferburary 1992 when a friendly between Wales and the Republic of Ireland went ahead despite the blizzard

Ashley Young is a really really bad footballer.

Eric Young was Bambi on ice that night according to George.

I’ve hated that Saunders cunt since he pulled out of a move to Goodison at the last minute and signed for the bastards across the park, it was a blessing in disguise really as he was shit.

James Milner has been outstanding once more tonight and gets a deserved goal

3-2 to city now, 1 more and I think they top the group?

Mudderajaysus did Bayern get high at h-t or something?
Milner has been fantastic for City tonight to be fair.

February 1991 actually, when Niall Quinn got two goals and John Byrne rounded off a splendid performance. February 1992 saw Terry Yorath’s men turn the tables in the first ever international match at Royal Dublin Society through a Mark Pembridge goal.

Ireland-Wales spring friendlies were as integral to the early 90s experience as ecstasy tabets and rave culture*.

Four years in a row, in fact, from 1990-93 - The fixture became a real fixture on the Irish football calendar.

Ireland won 2-1 at Tolka Park. I think Tommy Coyne scored the winner by heading home a rebound from a free-kick.

David O’Leary was captain that night but was carried off after about four minutes. I’m pretty sure that was his last international appearance.
