Champions League Reform

this is it, coefficient is performance based. It’s rigged to suit the strong and the strong get stronger but it’s always been that way. you need to break the glass ceiling but at least it’s glass unlike the other one which was fully closed for 12-15 teams.

if there are 36 teams and you play 5 home and 5 away how do they break the groups down. That doesn’t add up

It’s like American football. You don’t play everyone home and away I think.

Only champions should be in the champions league

Kind of but not really. At the start that may be true. But if Arsenal continue to struggle domestically their coefficient will remain artificially high due to getting this free pass into the top tier.

Unless they build domestic performance into the coefficient

Does this mean the end of “champions league format “ being given as the solution for the ills of ever GAA competition from the Longford Junior hurling championship to the All Ireland Senior Football ?

did you just make that up?

What I think would be good is some sort of European super league

They have taken domestic performance out of it.

Spots are being taken away from smaller domestic leagues and handed to bigger ones. Robbing the poor to service the rich.

What hope does a domestic champion from a smaller nation have now, particularly one that wins it after a barren spell?

They’ll do something if the bigger clubs dont regularly make the CL … that’s all it’s about as you say. It’s a watered down version of the Super League and we have to get through 50 matches before we see the real stuff…

ok you’re getting all soap boxy - i’m out

Club co-efficient makes no sense. The only club co-efficient that matters is league position.

Having said that, I’d say West Ham or Everton must pass out Arsenal soon enough.

This is what @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy and @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy wanted. They got it.

it’s open ended enough to be palatable to the masses, especially after that other shit show. Who knows, maybe the other thing was a Kansas City shuffle to get this yoke passed as the better option

I’m speaking facts.

Very you to get precious when you don’t like the truth.

This might interest the posters who aren’t desperately looking for an argument.

You only play 10 teams out of the 36. I haven’t seen it explained how the clubs fixtures are picked.

You’re the one that wanted the Super League.

You’ve now got your watered down version.

I didn’t want a super League and I don’t want this.

Football is rotten to its core because of cunts like you.

Presumably I’d say it will be split into six coefficient based pots.

Pot 1 - top six seeded teams etc.

Only teams who have won the European Cup should be in the Champions League.

Forest Liverpool would be a tie for the ages.
