I thought they might be back in it when Moutinho scored a screamer but Bayern got a ninth straight away which should seal it.
Handy bit of reffin for them all the same.
That was me. They’re one goal away from the biggest aggregate hiding in the knockout stages. Which is something, I guess.
Watching Juve Chelsea. Priceless away goal for Chelsea but Juve were unlucky to have a hand-ball given against them leading to the “ghost goal” which subsequently fired Chelsea up and led to their actual goal.
Funny how this frantic 100 miles an hour football used to be always the stick used to beat English football. Now it’s the way to do it!
Amazing the results they’re getting these days though, looks likely to be four English in the quarters again.
Dunphy now makes out every game involving an English team to be a foregone conclusion basically writing off all the foreign teams as rubbish before the games. Wierdly results are proving him right for once.
Can’t understand why the gap is so big, as teams don’t look that much better on paper, but it appears to be.
Take that ye franco cunts
Ah - that is a fantastic finish by Gerrard.
European night at Anfield, as I said before, nothing like it. I’d give Real to do this tie, how wrong was I!
Pool shouldnt let up here, this scoreline could last for the ages if they keep at it.
To be fair he has been class tonight. The EPL teams are so far ahead of the rest its embarrassing. Its not even been a particularly strong EPL this season either.
another great save there, only for Casillas it could have been 3 more

It’s possibly because they now have technically gifted players from all around the world playing at a quick traditionally English pace, as opposed to a decade or two ago when a predominantly English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish and Scandinavian contingent played for the English clubs. Aside from a few players, they were more often more grunt than guile and would regularly be outplayed by the continental sides but now they have the capability to combine both and it’s been pretty devastating tonight.
Why do you think that is KIB? are the Premier League players really that much better? Wouldn’t watch much of the other leagues in fairness but it doesn’t seem to me like all, or even the vast majority, of the talent is in England.
That’s a bit stereotypical Bandage. English teams dominated European football before with almost exclusively players from Britain and Ireland.
Well, Liverpool did but I don’t recall other English clubs really doing so. That’s why I qualified my post with the ‘aside from a few players’ part to take account of that. I suppose you could argue the merits of Forest and Villa too though so I don’t know - maybe I was a bit off alright.
I thought some team a few years ago won some big tournament with a team of lads all from the same town? I think they were British anyway?
What happened to Real Madrid? It was only a few years ago that Ronaldo scored a devasting hat trick in Old Trafford. I also recall a goal scored in the CL by Raul which was breathtaking. Ball played forward to Zidane at inside left. He controlled and flicked the ball out to Roberto Carlos storming up the left wing in one movement. First time ball into Raul who had lost his man with superb movement towards the penalty box. First time strike - roof of the net.
Awesome.
I don’t think that ever happened Mac.
Taking off Alonso and not Mascherano was strange. Think the little rat faced boy could get his marching orders here.
Liverpool are bring on a 12 yo now it seems.

Greed and mismanagement in the board room…All started when they got rid of Del Bosque, Capello and Schuster may hav both won titles but they only really papered over the cracks, the likes of Zidane, Carlos, Figo, Makelele, Hierro et al have never been properly replaced
Unbelievable scenes in Turin.
