Real said last week they wanted Pool to attack, so they could pick them off on the break.

Oh well.
Keep an ear out for Sid Lowe.

cheers…

Always happy to help out the underpriviliged.

Surely Bayern aggrogate win over Sporting Lisbon must be a record for the knock out stages…

Second best apparently is what they said last night

I thought I heard them say last night somewhere that 9-2 was the previous best?

One of the lads in work says Lyon beating Werder Bremen 10-2 on aggregate was the previous best since the ‘Champions League’ format came in but last night’s was the second biggest win if you take both the old straight knock-out and current format into account. I’m not sure how reliable he is as he didn’t know who Kun Aguero was when I was telling him yesterday how poor Real Madrid were at the back in the derby last weekend.
Real were well and truly raped for the first two goals which changed the complexion of the match completely.

The penalty was harsh alright but Pepe fell on his hole for the first goal and after Cannavaros ridiculous attempt to clear the ball they deserved to concede.

I don’t know how you can say that they changed the complexion of the game as Liverpool were all over them and could have scored 2/3 goals before that

liverpool were all over them but 0:0 at half time while undeserved would have given Real a huge boost, two very harsh goals from a Real point of view and at 2:0 it was game over, goals dictate games. But we’ll never know.
Torres had his hand all over the defender, had it been pulled liverpool would have few complaints.
serious performance by them though

but you cant say they wouldnt have scored if those 2 werent given. They were all over Madrid and could easily say they’d have pushed on harder had they not got them. Madrid only came into the game in the ten mins coming up to half time when down 2-0. And I wouldnt say Torres had his hand all over Pepe’s shoulder. pepe was already committed and falling and Torres made no difference to him. It was similar tho to a free the ref gave against Raul for slightly tugging at Carragher in first half, but that was no free either.

goals dictate games, thats my point.
plenty of sides dominate for 90 minutes without scoring, plenty of side are under the cosh for 90 minutes and nick it.
you cant just say because liverpool were dominant that they would have scored anyway, they may have but you cant be sure.

by the same token you cant be sure they wouldnt have scored. its a pointless argument.

Yes, Liverpool scored 4 and won. Cut and dried. No need for the hypothetical scenarios. It would be different if Real posed any decent threat

whos arguing, my original point was real were raped for the first two goals.

no need for hypothetical scenarios= no need for discussion.

lets all read the tabloid reports and say nothing:rolleyes:

liverpool outclassed them & the goals were the conclusion of this

I give Liverpool plenty of stick on an ongoing basis for being rigid and concentrating on nullifying the opposition rather than playing positive football themselves and that’s one of the reasons why I don’t particularly like them. But they were brilliant last night and I can’t see why they don’t play with the same attitude and style more often.

If I was to speculate, I reckon Rafa copped that Raul and Higuain didn’t offer the threat of pace upfront so he decided Liverpool could collectively push up the park and really get at them. In the same manner, I think Manchester United should do the same to Inter tonight as Zlatan and Adriano don’t have much pace either. But getting back to Liverpool, I’d like to see them play like that home and away domestically but I simply don’t think Rafa would even consider it for Saturday as he’d be petrified that Ronaldo et al would hurt them in behind if they push up too far as a unit.

As a result, I expect them to be tactical and cagey with the midfield sitting deep. To be honest, I wouldn’t particularly blame them given Manchester United are a superb team but it’s when they bring that overly conservative style to the likes of fooking Stoke then it’s mildly baffling.

In this instance yes. You’re trying to make up a hard luck story for Real when they were totally and utterly outclassed by a better team

Real were well beaten, but had two goals unfairly given against them, i think it needs pointing out, in the interest of balance
