Champions League - Round of 4
World Cup goals lacking. 1 v Iran and 1 v North Korea

Arguable he is a flat track bully playing in an amazing Real Madrid side

He needs to win the World Cup singlehandedly, which he won’t do, to be ranked with the very best.

In summary he is a great player but not a great, great player.
what is a “flat track bully” and how is it relevant to soccer?
running tracks are usually flat so i dont think it was derived from here, is it more of a motor racing term? or something to do with horses bullying each other over a flat racecourse?
bullying usually takes place on the interent or in a school yard, a flat track seems a most unlikely location

agreed , Modric is a smashing player

It comes from cricket Mickee. A nice flat pitch that makes every batsman look good.

Agreed.

A cracking player.

He showed what he was about when introduced against Man Utd last year in the CL last 16. Completely dominated the match when it needed dominating.

There was a discussion about that on 5live last night. They were on about coaches and the differences between continentals and Brits. How the contintntals are more astute in adjusting to a changing situation. They gave the example of when Nani was sent off last year, Ferguson was ranting and raving and lost it whereas Mourinho had Modric on in the blink of an eye.

I wonder would Barca look to bring Pep back in the summer? Bayern might not be too disappointed to see him leave and Barca need a new manager and he would go back in a heartbeat I would say

Bayern were like trained robots… they kept just trying to do the same thing no matter how many goals the were behind and how little the tactic was working…again they had absolutely no urgency …Guardiola could turn into wenger with his stubbornness to keep playing the same way when its not working …

The Brits love making sweeping generalisations about the continent of Europe versus the mainland

How do they reconcile Mourinho versus Di Canio - both continentals.

Di canio would have been perfect for Real.

Guardiola being exposed without Xavi, Iniesta, Messi?

Seems clear Anceloti is the Special One - would be nice to seem him school Mourinho in a Champions League final

Guardiola’s big problem is his sides never really have a plan B. He is very good at setting his sides up different ways and being relatively flexible in terms of changing formation and shape but the underlying princple is always the same, possession, possesssion, possession and it can & will be exposed by organised, and energetic counter attacking sides

and the Madridistas were calling him the club’s worst ever signing last year… what a bunch of cunts …
I like the way Ancelotti goes about things but I fookin hope Real don’t win final because they are a horrible horrible club…

Yet they may yet be the less horrible club in the final.

How could anyone dislike Real with that smashing white kit?

Real is beauty. To think otherwise is to be a philistine.

It’s going to be a lose lose final either way unless Atletico go through tonight which they won’t.:frowning:

FFS, Muldoons like you commenting as if it means something to you whether Real Madrid or Chelsea wins the champions league sums up everything which is wrong with modern football,

cunts like you watch football in the same way birds watch eastenders, you are a consumer not a fan & I think i speak for the forum when I say that the day you darkened this forums door its gone downhill ever since.even your great besier Carryharry has distanced himself from you and thats because you are in the unenviable position of being a vile detestable simpleton

+1 mate

really hope real madrid win it, dont know much about athletico but I know their fans are cunts, wouldnt want Chelsea winning it as they dont play good football yet they are on the verge of going Champions league , europa league & champions league and for a team which cant be considered a decent team to have that success would be terrible

either way, its a fantastic times for football fans for all over the world and I hope everyone enjoys it

what’s with this whole Atletico Madrid love in?
Their fans are probably some of the most disgusting in Europe when it comes to racism , unlike notoriously racist teams like Chelsea, Real. Red Star, Beitar Jerusalem, Liverpool, Lazio, Zenit, etc where the racism is confined to notorious groups of so called “ultras” the problem in Atletico or “Atleti” as they are affectionately known as by the lover of the underdog is widespread and accepted in their stadium… Im going to refer to my good friend Sid Lowe who said the racist abuse that Marcelo received in the Vicente Calderon a few years back was the worst he has ever heard as just one example… as a bunch of cheats they are no worse or better than what is left in the competition, they are also managed by a cunt and have one of the most overrated players (diego costa) i have ever seen play up front.
