It’s not the greatest passing midfield ever is it? We miss Ledley to add a bit of reliability in there. Brown improved his passing last season but is still erratic, Kayal can pass it ok but tends to wander all over the place. Neither Forrest nor Sammy ever pass it really.

Our central midfield is a big worry for me. I feel we need at least two additions there before the window closes, along with a winger.

We certainly need one. I think we could get away with a hybrid to cover a winger or attacking midfielder. Someone a bit like Commons or Reus I guess.
I don’t think Kayal can be relied upon and I don’t think either Brown or Ledley are as effective in a flat midfield four. We badly need a strong enforcer type like Wanyama and a deep midfielder comfortable on the ball who can help us set a tempo.
I think Ledley can do that second role, particularly if there’s a guy like Wanyama beside him. And Brown was (surprisingly) excellent in that role in the cup final. It all depends on who we can get though. I think Ledley and Brown are versatile enough that they can fit in beside a few different styles of midfielder.
