If Roy Hodgson has the balls to pick his best available England team in the World Cup then Wayne Rooney won’t be in it.
They’re not really comparable in terms of difficulty or in terms of the quality of effort. Cavani should have done better but it wasn’t an absolute sitter and at least he seemed broadly familiar with the act of striking a ball. Rooney looked petrified of it.
It’s not as if they were penalties or anything. Cronaldo is pretty good at missing those (or chickening out of taking them) when it matters.
I know it’s desperation stuff but Barca don’t seem to have any idea how to approach injury time. Mascherano standing 20 yards inside his own half, 20 yards behind everyone else.

It’s ridiculous as it presumes that players are more likely to be faking it and penalises those (and their the teams of those) who have the ignominy to actually be injured.
