Has there ever been a better ride around Cheltenham than Barry Geraghty’s yesterday on Riverside Theatre?
No, Barry and RT absolutly fucking love you! What a race, rescued my week. If Boston Bob goes in today I could yet end the Festival in decent profit. Wouldn’t have seen that coming after Hurricane Fly had me staring into the abyss on Tuesday.
Peddlars looks like he’s had enough of the game and it was a privelage to see Big Bucks strutt his stuff in another great race. Andrew Lynch had two big race 2nds in consecutive days but has gone up in my estimation after this week. Great ride on VdV yesterday to make a proper race of it.
I would love to see Paddy Brennan go in on Baby Mix in the Triumph, he’s had a rough time of it lately and I think he has a great chance in such an open race. Carberry the ape gave Dirar no chance in the County last year but Davy Condon wouldn’t be as thick and 20s looks very big for this ex Ebor winner.Boston Bob will win the AB, sitting on a nice AP of 9/2
Quel Esprit has as good a chance as any outside the big 2 in the Gold Cup and if he wins I be running bollok naked down Cleeve hill. Went for Al Flora in the Foxhunters. Toner and Empire Levant(overpriced) in Martin Pipe and plumped for two bridle merchants to cancel each other out in the last and maybe get it right, Carberry aboard Bellvano.
Good luck gach duine!
Also for what it’s worth, I was told last night by a lad who was over in Cheltenham on Tuesday and Wednesday that a number of Mullins horses had been scoping badly. Make of it what you want but it could explain some of the underwhelming runs from a lot of his horses.
